Re: Know of Any TRUST worthy Honda dealerships?

Well then o.O OP, I think of some dealerships like small stores. You know those big box stores that carry a lot of brands, and then smaller, local stores that maybe carry 1/10 of them? That's what it's like. If I were you, I would first compare prices. Call around. From there, I would try to put a f...

Re: Messed up valve clearance

Awe, shucks. Thanks kramnala! I actually insisted on doing it because I'm extremely meticulous with details and I knew I could do it. When I explained to him what I've learned, and what the issue was, he had no idea what I was talking about. I will have to supervise him with any maintenance. M...

Re: PCX starter issues

Yeah, that either sounded like a battery or wiring issue. Is there any rust on your bike? Is it possible that there is a pinched wire somehow? I'm not sure it should take 4 hours of labor to see if the issue is with the start/stop switch. Have you tried another dealership?

Re: Messed up valve clearance

Thanks for that tip, you you. Everyone, I totally forgot to update this! It turns out the gasket really just wasn't sealed right or something. After a day of my husband freaking out that I might have broken his scooter, I fixed it! If anyone has an issue with the gasket coming off when they try to p...

Re: Messed up valve clearance

The intake was out of spec if I remember right. I think it was like .07mm. The exhaust was within spec but tight. The scooter was sounding fine, though. Once I get this issue fixed, I'll probably check them again when the second valve adjustment is to be done per the manual, just to see if they move...

Re: Messed up valve clearance

Thanks, DAB. I did see two different marks on the camshaft. The one I showed is the position where (sorry, I have a lack of terminology) there is slack on the rocker arms and the place where I put my feeler gauge is open for me to measure. I'm assuming this is the TDC on the compression stroke, corr...

Re: Messed up valve clearance

OK guys. I opened it up again. I found out why oil leaked. Well, all 4 of the bolts on the cover were loose. :| They were so loose that I could undo them with my hand. :o I thought I torqued them properly, but I didn't have a torque wrench. I tightened them what I would consider to be pretty good. E...

Re: Right brake lever not adjustable?

That makes sense to me. I told my husband that they do two different things. It kind of makes sense to me that he can pull the one side easier and the combi brake takes a bit more force.

Re: Messed up valve clearance

Thanks guys. I will post pictures if things get more complicated. When I checked it out yesterday, there was oil around the gasket. It also looked like it sprayed out from there. Then, I took a screwdriver to see if it was loose, and the whole gasket cover had a big gap very easily. How did you guys...

Re: Messed up valve clearance

I should clarify what he meant now (he was freaking out and over did it on the noises, lol) He described the sound as a loud "DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN". The oil sprayed the back wheel, on the center stand/kick stand, and then he saw smoke. This happened as soon as he decelerated and went ov...

Re: Right brake lever not adjustable?

My husband has the same issue, although his fingers aren't shorter. The brake on the left is visibly sticking out way farther than the right. I actually was a bit worried, but his breaks seem to be OK. I'm not quite sure why they aren't even, though.

Messed up valve clearance

I just attempted a valve clearance, and everything went great until my husband's bike started smoking and oil leaked. I'm looking for suggestions on what went wrong, and if I should just send it to the dealer to fix. My husband has a cousin who is a mechanic, and even though he usually works ...

Re: Grocery Shopping!

In my opinion, this is a very bad idea. The tire on that carrier would wear off, even if you COULD get it on your scooter and go at very low speeds. If you really need to carry a lot of groceries, you could get the following: Tank Bag Saddle Bags Seat Bag Luggage Rack Top Case There are some cheaper...

I feel much less concerned now. :D I'm sure my husband will love your advice. He tries to ride that thing all day, every day!

Re: Scooter sitting in rain, how to dry out?

The reason I was concerned is it was raining very heavy on and off for three days straight. So, you think it will dry out on its own? Do you think it's still a good idea to use Corrosion X or electrical grease?

Re: Will the Shoei Neotec fit under the PCX seat?

My husband has a large Shoei full face helmet. It fits, but the seat was bending a bit. I would recommend not putting it in there, as you don't want damage to the seat or helmet over time. A topbox will accommodate a large helmet.

Good place to get service done

I live in the Long Beach area in LA. The dealer I bought it from apparently has crappy service. Any recommendations?

PS-I think the place has to be certified by Honda to retain the warranty.
