Re: New pads and discs strikes again!

Just did service check of the brake pads at 4k and have better than half life left in the pads. I thought for sure I had a sticking rear caliper as the rear wheel is not much of a spinner and the disc gets really hot . I think the heat is more of a design issue and proximity to the exhaust. I too te...

Re: Meeting of the summer tires/tyres club

In Alaska we commonly refer to them as Ditch Divers and it seems they meet almost daily in the winter months o_O

Almost ordered a pair today, would like to hear what you think of the ride with the new shocks vs. the OEMs. Looks nice!

Re: How is two-up on the Forza?

I've done two up with my Forza mostly light gals but did do a near max load carrying a buddy back from the bike rental to his car about 20 miles through the twisty s. It's capable and can handle it. Adjust your shocks you'll be fine. Passengers will sit higher than the rider giving them a good view ...

Re: Nolan N-Com Bluetooth Models

Thanks for the post. I like the design and already own the Nolan N44 and the Ncom-B4+ which I have been pretty happy with. It works great and syncs up with my phone and GPS, my only complaints are the Nolan website for updates needs a major overhaul, control commands could be a little more user frie...

Re: New Forza owner

The Forza is one of the best handling bikes I've ever ridden. Nothing is more fun than a good twisty and the big island is riding paradise. Had a friend visit last year and rented a Vstrom 650. Good rider but you could tell he wasn't impressed with what I showed up with. Gave him a little adjust tim...

Re: Hi Viz Modular to go with vest

I have the N44 HI viz it has great visibility, pinlock, sunshade and good venting. I put the nb4+ comm unit in mine. It's Bluetooth compatible with any Bluetooth device so phone, GPS,or tablet is no problem. Intercom will connect with other manufacturers com units. Plays mp3 sound is good but not en...

Re: Solo Dawson and Back

Last years mud slog was 3-4 inches of very greasy mud with your occasional deep mud hole. Five bikes went down with two riders hurt and 78 riders turned around at Chicken and headed back to Tok. I wasn't one of them but had to rethink the wisdom of my decision several times on the way to Dawson. Rod...

Solo Dawson and Back

June is my annual migration to the Yukon river for the Dust to Dawson (D2D) gathering. You never want to call it a rally or you'll face vocal comments and name calling by past D2D riders. Its a meeting of riders about 300 this year of folks from Canada, Alaska, US states and all over really. The eve...

Re: My Alaskan ride

Added some Hepco Becker tank guards before heading back to the D2D run to Dawson City Yukon Territory. Like the install and they are the only bars I could find that lets me keep the OEM engine bars.

Re: Triumph Explorer XC ABS 1200

My buddy rides a TEX and loves it. Its a bit heavy for off road but very capable for gravel roads. Bike excels on pavement too. Its a great touring bike. Have your buddy get on the Tiger forum and there is lots of info. Some good deals on the 014 comes with the crash bars lights and expedition bags ...

New Givi Top Box,42 liter will hold my helmet and emergency gear. Nice size mounted to the Altrider rack with their mounting kit, very solid. Its nice to use daily and lets me pull the hard bags for daily riding. Will put the hard bags on for the Dawson City trip in June, will be also be visiting on...

Thanks Mich, I like the grip I've gotten out of the Dunlops but it's hard to compare it when I haven't tried something new so would like to hear your opinions when conditions improve. I have a spare rear I got from Honda as availability was an issue but I'm thinking the City Grips would be a good ti...

Re: My Alaskan ride

The hard bags are from Jesse Luggage they are 10" bags. Jesse mounting system is bike specific and the bags mount to the frame on a cam lock so its an easy on off. the mounting is very secure and I'm sure will protect the bike in a fall. The frames are not hoops and can hold soft luggage also n...

Re: My Alaskan ride

I power a GPS navigator, a heated vest, my helmet communications and running an extra aux plug powering my tablet and phone. These are typically run on 15 amp. If I have a need for more power (30 amp) I run it straight to the battery on a fused line. With the box you can decide if you want the circui...
