Re: PCX grinding noise at low speed

It was Mel's thread on the rear wheel bearing noise that alerted me to similar noise I had. I ended up replacing the rear pulley driven plate with the two offending bearings in it, same as Mel's. It was about $40 part shipping included. However it's not trivial and I wouldn't recommend it for a nov...

Re: Upgraded suspension YSS shocks and parts

I find I prefer low compression damping thus 1-turn on the PD valve. Other applications I've seen even go down to 0-turn. That works to lower compression but doesn't change the rebound damping which is the main advantage of using PD valve.
Btw, my all up weight is around 210lb.

Re: Rear wheel noise - URGENT!!

This is common issue. I had to repair mine. Here is copy/paste of what I posted earlier on the procedure. I bit the bullet and changed out the driven pulley part with the offending bearings without really noticing loud noise. After the change I have to say I'm glad I did it:) I didn't know it was no...

Re: Airbox and exhaust observations

I'm not sure if it matters to you but the stock exhaust is heavy and expensive as is because it contains catalytic converter inside. Even with the 'agricultural' sound, that's what makes it so guilt-free to use everyday and everywhere.

Re: Honda Pcx front noise

It could be the fork head bearing nut needs to be torqued to spec. Do you have tools to re-torque it?

I have clear window on the top of bag. It was placed inside the window. So technically inside the bag but still visible from outside.

I had it on my tank bag face down on my motorcycle over the July 4th weekend. It worked fine.

Thanks, Oyabun ;)

Lolofigo,
Believe it or not I got mine from the same place, Brooks Barn parts in UK albeit through eBay. It took awhile to get to USA but no issues from me.

Upgraded suspension YSS shocks and parts

I want to share my experience upgrading the suspension on my PCX150. I started with the rear shocks based on the collective wisdom on this forum and promptly ordered the YSS XXL shocks from Bikerbitz.com. It took little long to arrive(got hung up at San Francisco of all places) but was easily swappe...

Re: Just rollers vs complete variator

I've installed NCY 13gram rollers based on the collective wisdom and have been very happy with the result. Noticeable improvement in acceleration and nil affect on fuel economy(I average 103mpg). Another happy customer on just the roller change! Just for completeness of info, my top speed was and st...

Re: Hey guys PCX needs running-in?

I'm of the school of thought, ride it hard but not harsh. This is mostly to bed in the piston rings right away which set up lifetime of good compression in the cylinder and general health of an engine.

Change the oil after 500 - 600 miles then follow the Honda maintenance schedule.

Re: Resistance in steering head

That notchy feeling is indentation on the head bearing race. Either you hit a big bump, enough to bottom out the forks in big way, or you have very high mileage on you PCX. It's not super urgent but it won't fix itself either. It will eventually need to be replaced with new bearing. Not a simple job...

Re: Gas to put in my PCX 150

No, PCX does not have knock sensor. That's false information.
As stated many times, PCX engines were designed for 91 RON or 87 AKI gasoline which is widely available in all parts of the world. Knock sensor is the only way it can tangibly benefit from higher grade gasoline.

Re: Honda PCX 150(awesome scooter)

I would vouch for taller windshield as I've installed the tallest National windshield as soon as could. I too like wind in my face but anything above 45kph with the factory shield, it stops being enjoyable. Keep in mind folks in US routinely ride close to 100kph due to traffic flow.

Re: Should I just stick with premium fuel?

Since the engine in PCX doesn't have knock sensor, it's safe bet the premium doesn't bring any benefits to fuel economy or power. The smoother sound associated with use of premium(aka 'super' or 'ultra') fuel is due to less peak cylinder pressure generated due to higher octane properties and no spar...

Re: What is this part?

It's recirculated exhaust gas oil trap and drain. No need to do anything with it other then to dump out when it gets full.
