Re: How to install a mountain bike stem.
All in the name of rider comfort... :D I like a low seat, stretched arm position. I just can't stand the handlebar in the lap position(like most scooters). But, mainly most "motorcycle handlebars" (I tried a couple different ones) have a wider center(too wide overall) and more pull-back/sw...

Now put everything back together and enjoy a very comfy riding position.
(I would recommend a short DH stem or BMX stem).

Re: How to install a mountain bike stem.
Cut your new steerer tube to the desired height(don't cut too much or you will have to start over)...
install a "star nut" or weld in a small nut inside the steerer tube, I welded in the star nut.

Re: How to install a mountain bike stem.
So now put your shaft thingy back on the PCX, and decide how high or low you want your bars,
by simply moving the stem up and down.(ape hangers anyone)

Moving on, put your new shaft into the thingy. For extra security I drilled a small hole in the thingy for a pin.

Re: How to install a mountain bike stem.
Now, weld the 2 tubes together like so. If your ghetto drill a hole through the pipes and put in a bolt and nut
(probably not as strong but should work in theory).

So chop and lightly grind the threads down on the gy6 tube, too fit the mountain bike tube.
Fits perfect with a good press or hammer...

Re: How to install a mountain bike stem.
Next, find the appropriate tubing/pipe/shims etc to join the 2 steerer tubes together.
I was thinking about using a 1/2 drive 18mm socket but,
I used part of a steerer tube from a gy6 scooter.

Re: Dasshreddar's PCX/Ruckus Hybrid
Ghetto yes, but actually very secure with 4 regular zip ties.
Took the bracket I made for the gy6/ruckus and put it on the PCX.
Here is the tail light and blinkers welded to the rear end(license plate attaches under the tail light).
Also added a custom fender to the rear.

Re: Side white lights next to headlight - ?
I did something very similar to this on my Ruckus. Just hollowed out the stock bulb headlight fixture and added a 1156 fixture with a led bulb. Worked great as a spare headlight, with very little draw from the electrical system(thats why I did it). Pretty darn bright too. 8) Here it is next to the s...

Re: Side white lights next to headlight - ?
I think adding a bulb to the side lights is very possible...
Just drill out the old "P9517(US)" and attach a "1156" bulb or similar small bulb and fixture.
Of course attaching the fixture will be the hard part, but a small bracket to hold the fixture should work...
