Re: Replacement seat for the PCX

Has anyone tried to move the hump back some? I'm thinking even an inch or so might make a difference. Of course the hump would need to be stripped in order to move the studs. Or shave the front of the hump back some? I've noticed some discomfort on longer rides. The ability to stretch ones legs woul...

Thanks Guys! Taz, I didn't see any bears, but it should have been close, at least in the valleys. Turkey mating season was in full swing. Seen a few Toms courting, fans and all. Tried to get close a few times, but they didn't want to cooperate. Here's a few more pics http://i1284.photobucket.com/alb...

No, just certain areas don't get the pressure. Go west, especially toward Fontana, or South to Cherokee (besides the Casinos) or East away from the attractions and you're right on the middle of rural America!

Re: PCX in the Smokey Mountains (pic heavy)

Part 4 I had originally planned to fish some of the local streams for a day or 2, but realized that for some stupid reason I was missing my reel... Here I was about to pull the trigger on a 1 day non-resident license only to realize it must have been displaced from my bag! My wife suggested just buy...

Re: PCX in the Smokey Mountains (pic heavy)

Part 3 Saturday I got sucked into Dollywood... LOL Thankfully I was able to escape for another ride mid afternoon. The temps climbed into the mid-50's and in theory I should be able to manage a longer ride into the mountains. I took the bypass and toward Cade's Cove into Townsend. From there I went ...

Re: PCX in the Smokey Mountains (pic heavy)

Part 2 I came back damn near frozen stiff after a 25 mile ride and the rest of the family wanted to take in the scenery as well. I had hoped to the PCX across the Gap into Cherokee, but the road was closed do to major collapse during the winter months and anything above 5000' was still in Winter mod...

PCX in the Smokey Mountains (pic heavy)

Part 1 Booked a lodge back in January in hopes of finding a little warmer climate than up North, but like the rest of the nation, everything is 3 weeks behind from normal temps. Arrived Thursday night after a shitty drive through Cincinnati. I can usually pull it off in a little more than 8 hours, b...

oil change

did an oil change at 561 miles and found it quite dark. cleaned the screen and found a cotton like substance. seemed weird with that low of mileage.

Went with the synthetic 10/30. Honda oil

Re: Pushing Spring...

Thanks Guys! I do believe the tall spike is a VHF (marine band) antenna. As for the others, maybe lightening rods or just plain decor. Yes it was quite deserted for a Saturday afternoon. Many of those homes are weekend cottages. During the Summer months they run up to 4 ferries. This time of year th...

Re: How long you been riding?

I agree, I tell my mechanic to do a normal service and change oil each time but not to do a valve check. Service fee went down from $200 to $80. I see your point, but what about warranty work if the engine were to let go and the recommended service wasn't performed? Would one be left holding the ba...

Re: How long you been riding?

You better touch wood, you old bastard! Fun reading about everyone's history. Not quite sure if I bought mine for economy or mid/late life crisis. Tried a GMC Terrain for better mileage a few years back, but found that I still prefer to drive my diesel. Traded both to afford a GMC HD Denali. B...

Re: How long you been riding?

Started in '74 with a Solex. I probably logged over 5000 miles on that thing, even in Winter. Graduated to cars and chicks in '76 Wasn't until like '81 when a buddy of mine went shopping for a bike when I got back in the saddle. He was shopping, I bought. Ended up with a Yammie 500XS. Rode that for ...

Re: Cable or Satellite for Best Customer satisfaction?

They're all gonna screw you after the initial baiting is over. Had Comcrap, then Dish and ended up with DirecTV. For one simple reason. I originally had 2 dual receivers, but wanted one for my 5th wheel at the boat (for the queen and rainy days) I asked Dish to spilt up one the duals and no deal... ...

Re: GPS mounts

pretty creative, ain't we...lol

I'll try post some pics for the GPS. Sure it's not waterproof and needs to be removed, but the mount allows that. Now to work on a plug tail! Seems most use 5.4 V. I'd hate to blow up my camera!
