Re: 2011 19,000 kms stutters at slow speeds with passenger

thanks guys. the Italian tune-up and some fresh gas seems to have sorted it.
maybe it was old winter gas or not being ridden much over the cold months.

2011 19,000 kms stutters at slow speeds with passenger

Hi, Long time no post. Still enjoying my scoot! My 2011 19,000 kms stutters at slow speeds with passenger. I think it's probably time for some new rollers and a belt. Is that right? What do I need to do to this scoot? Assuming I need rollers, what are the best rollers for the money and performance? ...

Re: Lesson Learned on 8,000km (5,000m) Service

i've been telling people here for years that there is no valve check specified in the japanese service manuals and the chief mechanic at my local honda dream shop (flagship official honda motorcycle shops in japan) says that we will check the valves when and if they seem to need to be checked. the P...

No, they go on over the bar ends. The bar ends do not go through them if that what you mean? You cut the zip ties to remove them for summer and use new zip ties in the fall.

Re: 30,000 mile update......

my japanese isnt great but i can read valve, km, engine oil, etc, etc. on page 85 of the 2015 owners manual it says to do the first oil change after 1,000 km or 1 month and to change the oil every 6,000 km or once a year. this is all i am finding for a maintenance schedule in the manual. it is very ...

Re: 30,000 mile update......

Well, I just checked the Thai owners manual and that has valve inspection at 600, 2.5K, 5K, every service basically. There are a lot of PCX in Thailand but the manual still has the same advice (perhaps for Honda Corp to cover themselves). It's then the dealer who would have to pay for service under...

Re: 30,000 mile update......

there are no valve check internals in the japanese owners manual. no valve check intervals in the official japanese shop service manual materials. the cheif mechanic checked everything he had on the PCX very carefully when i told him about the US intervals and found nothing. you can bet that they wo...

Re: 30,000 mile update......

its not in the japanese service manual. we checked carefully when i told him about the valve check intervals as stated in the US service manual. again, i will trust a seasoned honda factory trained mechanic with years of experience who services a dozen 125cc honda engines a week or more over a the o...

Re: 30,000 mile update......

Well they don't check them and the service manual doesn't give valve check intervals interestingly. It should be noted that 125cc bikes are a dime a dozen here and they have a ton of experience with small Honda engines. When the head mechanic at my local flagship Honda Dream motorcycle shop tells me...

Re: 30,000 mile update......

the PCX is an extremely common vehicle here and the honda shop mechanics deal with a gazillion of them. they never check the valves on these here in japan unless there is some reason to think it needs to be done.

Re: Idling stop

i know a guy who stopped his bike without putting the kickstand down or turning it off. the idle stop shut the engine down. he dismounted and then went to push the scoot into the place he wanted to park it and twisted the throttle in the process. the bike shot forward breaking the plate glass windo...

Re: Idling stop

interesting theory. i would have though this system would use less battery power than a conventional starter? i suppose saying that it is BS is a bit strong. i also commute in very heavy traffic with lots of stop and go and have never had a battery problem except for the one time when the stock batt...

Re: Battery Question

there are too many cheap chinese battery companies to keep up with these days. one of my friends always buys the cheapest chinese batteries he can find and it has worked out okay for him other than having some fail in a relatively short amount of time. he still comes out ahead as they are so much ch...

Great follow up, this should help some people wondering about maintenance and durability trust the bike more. I especially like this statement, since there was recently a discussion about this on another forum: I have never inspected the valves and she runs as good at the day I first brought it hom...

Re: Windscreen - Ermax vs. Givi?

I am currently trying to solve the same question. I wanted the Givi screen, but I found that with my height (6'1" = 185 cm) I would get a lot of helmet noise. So I am also 100 % sure to buy Ermax +25 cm. However, don't you have issues with mirrors hitting the windshield at full wheel lock? I h...

cool, i also have a couple of bigger "proper" motorcycles. i think you will soon realize just how much fun a small scoot can be when you get a chance to get out on it! not to mention how cheaply you can get your butt around town on one! welcome to the forum.
