Re: Scooter rider no more

I just assume that at some point – and hopefully at least at your age or earlier! - my reflexes won't be what they used to be, and I'll prefer an "automatic" bike versus a "manual", for safety's sake. But I also love hearing people who stay on bikes as long as you have. Ride on a...

Re: Scooter rider no more

There's a little more to it than just storage 8) I feel like i'm whipping around like a dust devil, dragging the C-stand and FREE!!!! I know it sounds weird but perhaps you get a chance to get back on a PCX after the summer and you'll get a similar euphoria as when you walk on a (belt walk) at the ...

Re: Scooter rider no more

There is need for both a scooter and a street bike. You'll long to ride the PCX now and then and when you do you'll fall in love all over again just like the first time... I'm sorry but this is truth  Oh, I know... the first time my wife asks me to run to the store to pick up a bottle of wine ...

Re: Scooter rider no more

Hi Mel & Noise, Thanks for the kind words! Mel, sorry to hear about the accident and diagnosis – hope both you and your wife are doing well. My new bike is equipped with ABS, and already commenters on the Vulcan forum have discussed how glad they are they've had it when they needed it. We can al...

Scooter rider no more

Last Saturday, I rode my PCX down to a local dealer and got a great price for it on a trade-in. It was time to upgrade to a motorcycle. I'd had my eye on the Kawasaki Vulcan S for a year, and went out on a group ride with someone who had one. It was everything I wanted on two wheels, and after 170 m...

Re: Said goodbye to my PCX this weekend.

I, too, think the Vulcan S will be a good seller. It's, in my opinion, a great beginner cruiser. Not too powerful or large, 3-way ergo configuration from the factory for short to tall riders. However, the foot-forward position just isn't comfortable for me for more than ~50 miles at a time. I'm hop...

Re: Said goodbye to my PCX this weekend.

Yeah, starting to get the itch myself. Something tells me when Spring 2015 rolls around, my PCX150 may get replaced with this: http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/2015-VULCAN-S-ABS It'd be my first motorcycle, but I just cannot stop thinking about it. Not too powerful, ABS option, adjustable handlebar ...

Re: Givi Windshield on my 2013 160

Hope it works for you. I had to exchange it for the taller 323, because the wind buffeting was horrible for me. Maybe a combination of my height, helmet, and screen, but the taller screen blocked everything, with very little noise. I take it off in the summer months when I want the air on me, and pu...

Re: Heated jacket on an Auxilery Battery

Good to know! I was having an issue with my stock battery - dealer determined it was bad, as it would deplete in 4 days on non-use. New one is holding up fine, and as we get into colder months in the NE, I'm getting ready to suit up in some heated gear!

Re: Yesterday mornings run

I got a more basic Garmin nuvi, but the Zumo's really are better for cycles. Fine for the car, but when I'm on the PCX I've basically been using my iPhone for GPS.

Re: Dismount to fuel up ??

I always dismount and put the bike up on the center stand so that the tank is even with the ground and I can maximize the fuelling. Also, in New Jersey, it's illegal to pump your own gas, but most attendants will let me because it's just easier for me to know when to stop before overflowing the tank.

Re: What's the best (your fave!) colour for the PCX?

I love the matte look I've seen overseas (well, overseas when you live in the States)... there's a gray out there that's spectacular. I'm happy with my 2013-150 red though, which I accented with red stripes on the rims, and the red on the Givi topbox I have blends nicely as well.

Alice, I recommend looking at http://www.meetup.com to see riding groups in your area. I belong to both a motorcycle and a scooter riding group in central NJ.

Bought some off Amazon myself about a year ago, for maybe $9, and have been amazed how useful they've been to have handy in the garage for any number of other tasks.

Re: Battery flat - help!

I'm bringing my 2013 150 into my dealer in about two weeks for them to run some tests on the battery, letting it fully drain, etc. I had them install a trickle charger for winter storage, and that's been working great. But I left it disconnected from the charger over a long weekend, and in 4 days th...

Mine's one year old as well this month. Almost ready to break 3,000 miles, riding only on warm weekends!

Also eyeing that CTX700 myself... :D
