Re: Handlebars

Interesting approach as a last ditch effort, but if an allen (internal hex) head is rounded, your options are pretty darn limited. I guess I am used to allen head bolts being grade 8 material, and will more frequently round off a cheap wrench. Are the bolts holding the handlebar clamps alloy? That w...

Re: Handlebars

So how much does Honda save by using cheese-headed bolts? Seems like false economy to me.

Re: Newbie. My new Forza with some upgrades

Looks great! (Although Jge64's pic is pretty scary.) I for one would like your take on the ride improvement from the Ohlins. They are (for me) a pretty pricey gamble in the quest for a nicer ride. The Mallossi's are pretty expensive as well, but not at the Ohlins level, and they just look like regul...

Re: Just bought NOS Forza 300 ABS

It will be really interesting to get her reaction after a couple of months use. She should be happy with the "bigger bike" feel. I guess it is possible not to love the PCX's "flickability", but of the two machines, that is what I prefer about riding the little guy. To each his/he...

Re: Just bought NOS Forza 300 ABS

I don't now if you are doing two-up riding, but the Forza is just fine for it. The Admiral loves watching the world go by and not worrying about much of anything.

Congratulations - I'm reasonably sure you will be quite happy.

Re: I couldn't do it

You can avoid highways with Google maps, but that is about it. I messed around with the website version, and it is really quite good, with lots of check boxes to tailor the kind of ride you want to take. I need to see how it will do planning a loop. Definitely worth a bookmark. Thanks Gangly!

Re: American morning...

In Massachusetts, if you are convicted of DUI and loose your licence for x years, you are out of luck for legally riding anything motorized, even a 50 cc or a moped. If caught, its back to the slammer for you! If you can swing it financially, you could probably get away with an e-bike, but that is a...

Re: Changing Forks oil? Really!

As usual, Oyabun, nicely explained. Your points about wear due to loading not being completely axial (thus letting internal metal on metal contact, albeit lubricated, to occur) never occurred to me. Of course I'm not a mechanical engineer or racing aficionado, so I guess I never really thought about...

Re: American morning...

I'm afraid that, here in my part of America, "odd" pretty much goes with "scooter rider". I think I can count on one hand the number of scooters I see during a riding season (with the exception of Portsmouth NH, where there seems to be a culture of the hopped-up Ruckus).

Re: Gas in Winter

By all means, do it! Ethanol free gas is easier on seals and gaskets, and has a somewhat higher BTU/gal (or Kw/L or whatever the metric equivalent is). Considering the PCX mileage, the cost is pretty much irrelevant. My '13 PCX manual (pg 104) mentions that damage caused by oxygenated fuels (IE w et...

Sorry Mel - The quiet is going to be the hard part. They may be meatheads, but a pet certainly worms its way into the fabric of your being.

Condolences to both you and your wife.

I too have been faked out by that 91 RON thing. It would not have cost Honda much to put "(or 87 octane in USA and Canada)" in that paragraph.

Re: Screens for 2019 model

Photo rotation is a PITA. All the software and operating systems are trying to make you life convenient and do all this stuff for you - the only way I can be sure that a pic gets posted 'right" is to use a computer, bring the picture into Gimp and get the orientation the way I want, then re-sav...

Re: Ideas for riding in cool weather, and looking good?

My wife use Fly Ignitor electric gloves - same idea and price point. I don't think the would offer quite so much protection in the event of a real accident as a true motorcycle glove, but they should give enough, even if they give their electric life in the process. I've used them a couple of times,...

WHAT A LOT OF WORK! Very nice job. It appears that you are working outside - doing that level of work without a garage is pretty amazing to me.

You clearly have a great grip on fixing these things. I'm sure you will have much to offer the group. Welcome aboard!

Re: Sta-Bil and fuel economy

I definitely see a drop in fuel economy when it gets cold. I'm not sure that the Sta-bil has a detrimental effect (a half ounce doses the '13 PCX tank - hard to believe it could have THAT significant an effect), but one never knows. You can see on my fuelly history that I get my best mileage in the ...

Maybe take some of the money you didn't spend and get a nice 3 season m-cycle jacket? Oh - and some winterish gloves. You are going to want to ride until the white stuff flies.
