Re: Variator for 125

IS your bike a Mk1 pre 2012 125 or Mk2 post 2012?

How far do you want to ride at 105 kph or 65 mph.

Uphill is different from the flat. Is Louisiana flat?

How much do you weigh?

Sorry to obsfucate.

Re: Takegawa Pcx 170cc

J Costa is designed and set up to run with stock transmission components. If you add a Polini torque spring you will need to change the variator weights. Lots of different ones available and you can mix them to get small changes like 0.25 gms. You can also drill them out, carefully to make them ligh...

Re: Variator for 125

the variator is about the only thing that is the same for the 125 and the 150... just the weights are different. 65mph and extra, sounds too much for a 125 with only a variator mod. Stock Mk2 125 is good for at least 65 with a 100 kg rider and a bit more with a 75 kg rider. With performance variato...

Re: Takegawa Pcx 170cc

Thanks guys again. In the dealer they installed JCosta with 11gr or 10gr I think. A member from our forum told me that it was wrong and sold me the correct ones about 8.5gr. It really helped from 0-80km/h but after that it slows a lot... If I could get 120+ on flats easy... But no. 11 gms is correc...

Re: Takegawa Pcx 170cc

I installed the JCosta in the dealer but I made the maintenance. I already installed the lightest masses or sliders. It came with heavier ones. My weight is 61kg. So I'm light. :D Should I install a slight stiffer contra spring for now on the stock clutch? It will help something? What weights do yo...

Re: Takegawa Pcx 170cc

Depends on the angle of the hill? With a 5% hill you should be getting about between 92 kph and 102 kph depending on your weight. If the hill is steeper then you'll need to make some adjustment.

OP I sent you a PM if you send me an email address I'll send you the test results.

Re: Takegawa Pcx 170cc

Is it a Mk1 or a Mk2 125? I am assuming Mk2? Did you buy and install the J Costa yourself? Or maybe you bought it and had the dealer install it. What weights are you using? The ones that came with it? How many Kms since you installed it? The 80 kms thing you can fix. Your friend is not telling you e...

Re: CVT mods for PCX 150?

Fuzzy washers are only required IF there is a shiny unused area at the bottom of the variator face. http://members.modernvespa.net/joe_bulva/uploads/dsc01176_170.jpg What fuzzy washers do it to lower the belt in the "groove" to lower the take-off or "first" gear. They were pionee...

Mel,

$60 doesn't seem outrageous? Shock absorbers are quite heavy. If someone can tell us how heavy shocks are you can go here and find out how much postage is

Re: Maddiedog's 170cc PCX

Hi, Sober this morning  I wandered happily to Honda. They didn't have all the parts so PCX125 bits and the Sonic top retainer are on back order, ready on Monday. I'll probably go back Tuesday as the parts van arrives at 2.00pm. Here's what I have so far. http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s170/...

Yuminashi said it is a problem with the stock springs.
Was reputed to happen to the Mark One 125. Use Honda Sonic double springs.

Re: Takegawa Pcx 170cc

Nah. Just fuel tweaking. I always wondered if the old 125 had HP limiting not simple RPM as it sort of dies rather than stutter on the limiter.

Re: Takegawa Pcx 170cc

My fuel economy keeps improving,im down to 2.7l/100km. I wonder if it has anything to do with Yuminashi valve springs i got installed recently. My top end power past 8000rpm is awesome all the way to the limiter. Its a good upgrade for the Pcx engine. Stock gearing? What's the speed at the limiter?...
