Re: Mods on my PCX 125
Welcome. May I ask you to estimate the slope of the hill? If you are interested in comparisons, the only comparative info I have is for a 10% grade. How do I estimate the slope of the hill?? OK slope is height / distance so 5% is for every one ft in climb you go forward 20. In real life? You should...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt
;) Yes the maximum gearing will be reached when the pulley halves touch. If they are allowed to. But this would allow the halves to bump/wear. You could check for evidence of this. If you have any unused pulley surface at the outside. Then simple trigonometry would tell you. If you are the empirical...

Re: engine stalled on freeway, won't start again
Conventional wisdom is that if it stopped suddenly it is electrical and if it spluttered and then stopped it is fuel. Of course now with FI it is all electrical but.. Still using this it is electrical and this is bolstered by your burning smell. The burning small is not a good sign but things do get...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt
If worried about alignment one could always add a shim/washer of the same thickness to re establish the alignment. Accepting of course that if MP3 guys lengthen the boss to improve acceleration, shortening it will have the opposite effect.

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt
Shortening the boss may allow the belt to travel further up the pulley but it also has the potential to limit the travel downwards so in effect can raise "first' gear. Indicated by the fact that the fuzzy washer favoured by NP3 riders to lower the "first" gear for better off the line...

Re: Dunlop Scootsmart vs Michelin City Grips
I think you will find that IRC are very slightly larger in diameter. So fitting City Grips has the potential to lower the maximum speed by 5 kph. If one is into that kind of stuff.SmellyTofu wrote:Michelin and IRC are the same.

FYI depending on tires/wind etc on the flat a 125 has the potential of about indicated 73-78 mph (or real 67-71)

Re: Ordering bolts etc
Bolts are generic. Unless they are chromed for instance. Or a special like this https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS_PlQMfHF-qHNjaHZJx03L6s_G2c-I4KCbbek3Uu2lK9xqzPW47A So it is a question of finding the right store? NAPA? Schucks, Lots of shops have bolts. Lawn mower, Chainsaw, Al...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt
That is, one should use 10% lighter rollers when increasing engine power by 10%. Probably the opposite. If the torque slot is more active with increasing power, pulling the gearing lower constantly, you would need heavier weights to keep the same rpm that you had before. That is what I said a...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt
What was the Bangkok guy's secret to doing 140 kph? We'll assume it was indicated! I wrote it all down at the time. I'll dig out my note book. But from memory 160 conversion on old 125 CBR250 valves Extra strong valve springs (stock Honda parts) CBR150 Throttle body API ECU OVER Exhaust (from the p...

How it works..someone more technical may answer that question better. I know it has an removable attachment next to one of the lobes,i assume an intake one? Takegawa cam comes without it supplied but it has made provision for it that one can reuse from the stock cam. The only thing is you need a pr...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt
Also, the engine in the Yumi video revs over 10000rpm. I haven't checked how high mine revs. I met a guy in Bangkok whose old PCX did 140 kph. It was pulling over 11,000 RPM. Which sounds about right if one works out the gearing based on stock RPM limit and speed attained at that limit. But you'll ...

Re: Yuminashi variator and belt
Paint the pulley with a blue felt tip marker, 3 or four one inch strips should be enough and the boss. The belt will rub off the blue where it touches.
