Re: Tire Pressure?
You are correct: those links only apply to bicycle tires. But, that was my original example (slightly higher for car tires, slightly lower for bicycle tires). I wasn't trying to say that wider, lower pressure scooter tires would make you faster, I was only asking what the general rule was for the PCX.

Cool! Here's one
And here's another
There's more info out there (Jan Heine's got a lot of test data posted), but these are nice starters.
Let me know what you think!

Re: New Honda windscreen fits my 2015 !!
Hi WhiteNoise ! I can provide a little more info, but no pictures yet .... The mounting holes of the windscreen to the body offset brackets are slightly oversized, allowing a slight amount of tilt adjustment. I initially set the windscreen as low as possible on the mounting holes. When I took...

Re: Tire Pressure?
I always end up with the shoulders of the tread worn down long before the face of the tread is worn. That means your tracking is out. I disagree. :) On my Saabs (the FWD vehicles with which I have the most experience), they run positive camber, caster, & toe. This naturally forces higher wear o...

Re: Tire Pressure?
Yes, too high of a pressure would certainly wear down the center of a car tire. But I'm only talking about a few extra lbs of pressure. On my FWD cars, that usually means a change from the recommended 32psi up to 35psi on the front tires. Otherwise, I always end up with the shoulders of the tread wo...

Re: Tire Pressure?
Thanks for the correction on the rear psi j.d.b. I was reading the pressure for the max load rather than for a single rider. I also used to ride narrower bicycle tires at high pressures, but due to the recent studies on bicycle tire pressure & rolling resistance, I now run wider tires at lower p...

New Honda windscreen fits my 2015 !!
I know a lot of folks here have had great luck with Givi windscreens, but the multiple negative experiences from Dave at "Just Gotta Scoot" had me looking for other options. As you know, the dealer wants $300 for the OE replacement windscreen ($325 after tax). My first-choice alternative t...

Tire Pressure?
I usually run my car tires at higher pressures than what the owner's manual recommends (in order to get even wear across the tread). But I usually run my road bicycle tires lower than generally-accepted recommendations (in order to get a faster ride & better traction). Are folks running their PC...

Re: oil change intervals
Removing the oil change bolt too often, even with new crush washers seems not such a good idea. Why? Isn't the engine case made of aluminum? Unlike steel, aluminum has a finite fatigue life. The more often you R&R the drain bolt, the more potential you have to damage/stress the drain hole threa...

Re: oil change intervals
... i am curious with such a small oil reservoir and since the engine is under a more than normal load at times, does anyone change their oil sooner, i am thinking every 1000 miles or when ever it looks dark ... If you're worried about it, use synthetic oil instead of conventional oil & follow ...

Agreed, along with your time (probably the most valuable expense of all ...)gn2 wrote:Manual says 5000 miles, you are just wasting the planet's resources and your own cash changing it any sooner.

Re: PCX 125 oil
Thanks for the graphic iceman . Is this from your 125 owner's manual? I agree, 10W-30 covers a wide usage range. It's not so much the range that worries me, but the shear resistance. Of their 10W-30 oils, only Mobil 1 10W-30 High Mileage has a decent High Temp/High Shear (HT/HS) rating (meets ACEA A...

Re: PCX 125 oil
Oh, wait ... Are you talking about a "usage range" shown in the owner's manual? (My 2015's manual doesn't show any "usage ranges" for oil, it only recommends 10W-30.) If that's the case, then I misunderstood what you were saying. Sorry. I thought you were saying that 10W-30 was a...

Re: PCX 125 oil
You can use 10w40 (or 5wxx etc) but unless you bike spends lots of it's life in sub-zero temps or very high temps there is no point in oil with lower or higher viscosity than needed (10w30 covers -10 to >30) Fully synth 10w30 is normally the best choice - not too thin, not too thick for most parts ...

Re: PCX 125 oil
What's called out in the manual for gear oil? (I think my 2015 PCX 150 calls out 10W-30?)
My bigger question is what's the High Temp/High Shear rating of the Valvoline oil?

Just so everyone knows:
National Cycle does NOT currently offer a windscreen for the 2015 MY.
They told me (via email) that they have no plans to make one.

Looks good! I'm about to order one for mine.
Glad to hear how much it helps with both buffeting AND mpg!
