Re: It's Electric!

$1400 is a cheap price for the motor, wheels, rolling chassis even it comes with a throw away lead battery that doesn't make that spec for those of us that have/ can make our own Li packs. I wonder if it will really do 60 mph and does it come with a USA VIN?

Re: Hearing Impaired & Scooters

Hearing protection is a must for any motorcycle riding at speeds above 40 mph. permanent hearing loss will occur eventually if you ride a lot without hearing protection regardless of how much you spend on your helmet. I use in ear canal phones so I can listen to music during my 40 mile highway commu...

Yeah. The Nmax. Yamaha's answer for the poor low speed handling of the Smax.

Re: Yamaha's answer to the PCX... the XC155 !

The engine and Trans of the Smax are very nice but Yamaha knows that the PCX is the much better riding and roomier Machin so the have already made a move away from the Smax with the new Xmax125 which is pretty much a copy of the PCX.

Just left it. It is pretty loud now. I might recommend going a bit smaller.

Maybe you should change the title of the thread to "Wrong size sliders for the bike installed and I didn't like that they weren't working right". Instead of implying to everyone that installing the correct DrPulley sliders would be a step backwards.

Re: Sayonara Dr. Pulley

Variators don't really have an rpm. The mass of the rollers controls what rpm they pull at. The stock rollers are really too heavy for the best acceleration.

Must have had the sliders in upsidedown. They always give more top speed. Not less. Very common mistake.

Re: It's Electric!

I actually rode in the Vintage Days Vetter fuel economy challenge with two zeros and two ZEV maxi scooters. So they do actually exist. I got 141 mpgUS with the CBR250R. . http://www.schultzengineering.us/events/vmd-16/vmd-16.htm . PS. In addition to the government incentives and the reduced pricing,...

Re: speed wobble

The PCX doesn't tank slap or wobble. The CBR250R doesn't do it. The R3, Ninja20, Ninja650, Yamaha Majesty, none of my bikes do it. Don't worry about it.

Do you ever have problems with salty air and moisture getting to the exposed wire after the jacket is pierced and causing corrosion failures? I guess a liberal amount of dilectric grease on the connections would help.

Re: PCX top speed

Acceleration will be much better with 12 or 11 gram sliders. But top speed isn't affected the different mass of the weights unless you get so light that the variator never pushes all of the way out. Which would be hard to do. Something like 5 or 6 grams?

Re: Dr. Pulley & Contra spring testing

11gm sliders should work well. My 12's are a little too heavy with a high milage contra spring. The sliders have a more active feel than the rollers so that under full throttle they rev up much higher to the power peak than the stock weights, at lower power they settle right back down to an efficien...

Re: Dr. Pulley & Contra spring testing

My 12 gm sliders are only pulling at 7,800 rpm now after some further break in and cold temps of the contra spring so I wouldn't recommend anything any heavier than 12gm.

Hindsight is clearest. Foresight applies it. Study these crash reports and aggressive riding helmet cam videos to figure out what could be done differently so you can learn from their mistakes to become a safer rider. Take responsibility for your own safety and for promoting motorcycling by riding s...
