Re: Honda SH150i

We looked at the SH150i when we bought the PCX just over a year ago. At the time, it had a nice rebate because they weren't much competition for the PCX125 with the $1,000 price difference. It seemed strange to me that they had the 110 elite, the 125 PCX and the SH150i... and then the Silverwing????...

Re: Shopping for my first Scooter

Our local dealer has a new PCX125 on the floor for $2990 according to their website, and I suspect you can bargain down from that so the ads you're seeing for a used PCX are just crazy. I know there are regional variations, but it shouldn't be much or truckloads of used scoots would be shipping acro...

Re: Shopping for my first Scooter

I think they may be much more willing to bargain in a few months, and if you aren't in a hurry then the odds are very much in your favor. I bought our Burgman in October, and I was able to knock the list price down a few hundred dollars and eliminate all the crazy destination etc. fees. I was simply...

Re: Felt like selling my PCX for a while but...

We have thought off and on about selling our Burgman, so we're on the opposite side. It has been a nice scooter and we don't have any complaints but we don't need such a big scoot for the type of riding we do. If we needed to take the freeway or ride two up, the Burgman would win hands down. But, we...

Re: Looking into a PCX150 and I have a couple questions.

I believe 105.9 US mpg, or at least close to that. Our last tank was unusually high at 109.0 mpg, but we've generally been in the high 90's with some improvement now that the temperatures have warmed up. As small as the tank is, the variances in filling to "full" are going to make a signif...

Re: Getting a PCX 125 on Saturday!

I forget exactly what it says but I don't remember reading anything about warming it up. Actually, it is on page 67 of the owners manual: 6. Allow the engine to warm up before riding No other information is provided on how long that should be. I just get the PCX started on the center stand, and the...

Re: Getting a PCX 125 on Saturday!

Welcome Emily! I'm sure you'll love having a PCX scooter. They aren't much different than riding a bicycle, and you'll quickly gain confidence as you venture out. The helmet is the most important protective gear, but a good pair of gloves are also nice. I wore normal over the ankle boots (chukkas) u...

Just out of curiosity, what state or metro area did you find the 150 scooter?

Re: Ermax

Believe it or not, bicycle helmets are a legal requirement where I live. Not in Washington state, but in the county where I live and many others. I don't think about it much as I've worn one since my racing days. That said, I do wonder about all the protective gear I put on to ride my scooter and co...

Re: How to: Valve Adjustment for Honda PCX

Thanks Eddie for all the information! We did clean the oil filter, although there really wasn't anything noticeable on it. It all looked very clean. Just out of curiosity, has anyone else found that the valves were out of spec? If so, at what mileage and when had the previous check/adjustment been d...

Re: How to: Valve Adjustment for Honda PCX

Oh no, I guess I'll have to confess that I only have about 650 miles on my PCX. We bought it in September at the start of the rainy season, and it sat in the garage for much of the cold, rainy winter. I took it out every week or two for an errand run, but that was about it for much of winter. We've ...

Re: How to: Valve Adjustment for Honda PCX

Both the intake and exhaust valves were tight and needed adjustment How far out of spec were they Eddie? It would be nice to know when people inspect their valves and what they find at different mileages. We haven't done ours yet, but our intention is to check them less frequently if we think we ca...

Re: My PCX

GPS or SatNav is a useful tool if used correctly. Much safer to have it tell you where to turn than to be distracted looking at maps or written directions or hard to read street signs. That said, I've seen it used by a male member of my family in ways that are very dangerous. The worst is when he st...

Re: Ermax

In my state and I believe 19 others helmets are required for anyone riding a motorcycle. In many other states only riders under 18 years of age must have a helmet. This is one of the areas where states get to make their own rules. Some states also have bicycle helmet laws, but I believe those only a...

Re: Ermax

I just wear regular reusable foam plugs; nothing fancy. I just find that it cuts out much of the motor and wind noise, so I can more easily detect important sounds. My MSF class instructor said that he had hearing loss and that it was an issue with motorcycles, but I think it can be hard to determin...
