Re: Gear / Helmet discussion (split off from Ermax thread)
Maybe a good tip: Try and see if you can find second hand stuff! At least around here, some people who buy the gear end up never using it and then dump it on the market for peanuts. All the gear I wear was new, but I've heard enough stories of people getting theirs for cheap

Re: Gear / Helmet discussion (split off from Ermax thread)
And like you demonstrate, it's really about how you use it as well. I have a relatively long commute, for which the extra trouble of putting on protective pants doesn't add a lot of time. The same effort feels a lot sillier for 3 miles, and in such cases I usually just put on helmet, gloves and jack...

Re: Ermax
Honestly, I don't even think wearing jeans and a t-shirt is that bad. Well, I do. I think it's bad because wearing protective gear (gloves, boots, jacket, pants) can prevent a lot of damage in any accident, and as such should be worn regardless of whether you think the trip will be dangerous or whe...

Re: Obscenely fast lap...
The way those bikes buck and squirm at 120+mph through a corner, I can't fathom the balls you'd need to seek that out and control it.. I mean, those kind of videos look scary enough when they're just clipping the apex with their elbows on rock-steady bikes!

Re: Honda NC700
the redline of the NC700 is around 6500rpm, with 48hp at 6250rpm. The SV650 (FI) redlines at 11000rpm, with 74hp at 8800rpm. That's a huge difference in engine power and characteristic no matter how you cut it

Re: Service Intervals
don't worry about it, as long as it has enough oil your PCX will probably be fine for another 5000 miles your saying i should skip the 5000mile service ?, i'm assuming this will invalidate the 2 year warranty which is up next january anyway. if you skip it and your engine explodes, then yes I'd ass...

Re: Honda NC700
Tbh if the NC can't normally achieve 80mpg I think I would rather have one of these: http://static.blogo.it/twowheelsblog/triumph-bonneville-se-2009-01/triumph_bonneville_se_2009_01.jpg The list of other motorcycles with ~50HP that can even hope to achieve that kind of economy regularly is very sho...

Re: Ermax
But don't judge people because they choose a little bit more for freedom and a bit less for safety. I don't judge people who consciously choose to not wear protective gear. I do however judge people who are too stupid to inform themselves of the risks of not wearing that gear. These are the people ...

Re: Honda NC700
BTW, according to the German NC700 forum, the NC700X (and presumably the -S) with DCT definitely comes with the 38KW engine mapping, so it's not just the Integra!

Re: Honda NC700
I was meant to test ride both the s and integra. Dealer did not have them ready and ha e not been back since. Might go down over next 2 days. The s dct version is everything I want in my next bike but I have to wait 12 months for car payment to finish or wifey will kill me! the S version with DCT a...

Re: Honda NC700
Has anyone here sat on or ridden the NC700 S or integra? Im going to pop down to my honda dealer this week to see if or when they will be in the show room here, as I need a weekend tourer. Until I see, feel, sit on, and ride them, I cant decide between the two. I sat on a NC700X, as you'd expect it...

Re: First oil change, what oil to use question
I also see that they specify MB oil for a refill, went to look at motorcycle oils this weekend and could not find oil with "MB" specification MB = Motor Bike perhaps, so any oil in Motor Bike section is how I would interpret that. False. Oil with the JASO MA certificate is your classic mot...

Re: First oil change, what oil to use question
10W30 is fine and I'd recommend it over 10W40 if you do not live in a hot climate. As for energy saving oil vs motorcycle oil, that's a recommendation that stems from the wet (oil-bathed) clutches in most motorcycles. The PCX does not have a wet clutch and therefore does not care whether an oil is e...
