Re: Seat change

I got one of the Thailand seats, but it still wasn't enough for longer rides, which I want to do. So I ended up with a very expensive seat from RUSSELLS DAY LONG! So now I'm selling the Thai seat on eBay, cheap.

Re: swap handlebar for new seat??

BTW, I found that the original stock seat was difficult to lock down... with the new seat upholstery I had to remove the rubber "feet" to get the seat to lock down. Anyone else find those feet make a very tight fit?

Re: swap handlebar for new seat??

It was like $750... which seems like a lot, but considering what people pay for vespas and other scooters I think I'm still getting a bargain.
can't tell if I love it until I get some miles (with the handlebar fix) but I think it's going to be a lot better.

Re: swap handlebar for new seat??

So a friend says that it would be better/easier to put in a set of risers like this http://tinyurl.com/l5ztzf2
Still don't know about cable length... I'm thinking of the 3.5" risers.

Re: swap handlebar for new seat??

Yes, it's a RUSSELL Day Long. There wasn't much choice on where the backrest could go! Just tugging on the cables feels like there's really not much play, but they must be tied down under the faring. Still winter so I've not gone far, but it should be a major upgrade seat wise (if I can reach the ha...

swap handlebar for new seat??

Got an amazing new seat, but I'm so far back in the pocket I can just reach the handlebars!
Is it fairly simple to swap out for a bar that's got a longer "pullback"?

Thanks, guys! First I'll have to get the "receiver" on the ol' minivan.

Re: milk crate carrier

Really don't think wind resistance is an issue, it's mostly open, and I'm sitting in front of it! OK, it doesn't look great, but it's only on when I go shopping!

milk crate carrier

I find the Givi Monolock not very handy for everyday errands... weird shape and the lock is funky to say the least. Found a milk carton that I could cut some tabs in the front that would clip into the mounting plate... also cut a rectangular hole for the "tab", keeps it from sliding around...

Re: Givi 323 tall windscreen

That's it... I guess I did tilt the handlebars away from me! Still trying to get the perfect ride... I did order one of the seats from PowerbyPCX in Thailand. We'll see how that goes.
Thanks.

Re: Givi 323 tall windscreen

I did use the kit, but it doesn't help that much... spent quite a while adjusting the mirror so I can lock the front wheel. You're all able to lock the wheel (especially maddiedog)??

Re: Givi 323 tall windscreen

I also love my tall Givi, cut down 1.5" (I'm 5-8) BUT I found I had a hard time turning the handlebars enough to lock the front wheel~!? The notches in the screen don't really seem to line up with the mirrors... it took a long time to finally find the "sweet spot" but I did manage. An...

Thanks for checking. I'll switch over at 5000 (in another 2500).

OK, understood... but you did say "Honda only recommends synthetic"... where is that? I don't see it in the manual.

Re: How to: Oil Change for Honda PCX

Hmm, I'm unsure if using dino oil will make a huge difference in terms of short-term wear... It certainly won't hold up for 5000 miles though, so I'd shorten the maintenance frame with conventional oil to only 3000 miles or so. Usually 5000 miles is pushing it with conventional oil, whereas synthet...

Re: How to: Oil Change for Honda PCX

depthman -- it's important to use a synthetic too, Honda only recommends synthetic. I use the synthetic high-mileage stuff in my Silverwing and my PCX, no issues thus far. I think the stuff I'm using now is Castrol. Somehow I missed "synthetic" in the manual!? I already changed the oil wi...

Re: How to: Oil Change for Honda PCX

The scooter does not have a wet clutch like motorcycles do, so you can use any motor oil. That is, you can use the same stuff that you'd use for a car. Honda recommends 10W30 or 10W40. AFAIK, it is never a problem to use a 5W30 or a 0W30 instead of a 10W30. I use Castrol 5W30 (Castrol Edge I think?...

Re: powerbypcx seats?

The question concerning how the Burgman 400 and the PCX 150 compare is relative. I am bigger than my wife and the 400 is great to me. My wife loves to ride it also, but she looks like an ant on a big flower on it. For long trips you can't beat the Burgman. But for getting around town it is cumberso...
