Re: New belt making slight squeal low speed

The drive faces of the variator can get glazed with rubber, or the rubber on a variator may have gotten oils on it. I'd take them out and wipe the belt and variator faces with a dry cloth. Do not use oil. If you feel like using a bit of fluid to help scrub, use alcohol and make sure it evaporates be...

Re: scooter revival

The PCX has FI, which means there's no nasty fuel sitting in a carb float. That's a good thing for you. Siphon out all the fuel and fill with fresh fuel. Put it up on the centerstand and see if it'll run by jumping the battery from a car. Make sure the car is off, cars often charge with their altern...

Re: New member, with a question

Hi Vito, welcome! The PCX can keep up on 55mph roads no problem, even uphills, with a normal weight rider.

I advise against highway riding. While I have done a lot of that on my last PCX, I was young and stupid and wouldn't do it again. The PCX is just too light and gets blown around too much.

Re: overfilled oil and old oil

That 10w30 will work great.

If it was that bad, I'd do another drain and fill, as Eiron recommended.

I'd also keep an eye on the level long-term, it is possible water got in there somehow if it was that full.

Re: Excited PCX owner......Pictures

Wow, full knee replacement straight to a PCX! You're awesome and adventurous!! The PCX has a low center of gravity, so you made a great choice. When you're taking it out and learning, try to always stop with both feet or your good foot down until you get back to 100%... And if it starts to drop towa...

Re: It's Raining......

It's STORMING out today. I'm down with that though, my wife had me plant 4 raspberry bushes yesterday and 3 blueberry bushes. I also transplanted a bunch of nandinas to the front yard. They could use the rain. It's also pollen season here in Georgia. I'm sure Mel's seeing the same stuff I'm seeing, ...

maddiedog, really a robot mower? What the heck! And it works? Amazing! Gosh it sounds like the Jetsons moved in. Remember that cartoon? Of course You Don't  Tell me, can you set a pattern on that robomow? Examples: mow grass in tic tac toe (for the kiddies), or Waves to get your swim on? What!...

Re: How long does it take for the engine oil to warm up?

I wouldn't worry about warm up with the PCX engine, it is built with close enough tolerances that thermal cycling won't affect the life of the engine substantially. I'd instead be extra careful to stick with the maintenance schedule to change the oil regularly since the scooter has no oil filter. If...

Not today, but perhaps this last weekend? ;) My wife's having me put in a container garden for her in the backyard. I had my first weekend with no work or obligations in months, and ended up spending it outside cutting down 4 dead trees and digging a bunch of gardens. The weather was BEAUTIFUL thoug...

Re: Losing power at 55 down to 40. Coolant full yet overheat

When I swapped the engine on my 125, I had the overheat light come on with the first ride. I didn't properly fill the coolant, so there was a bunch of air in the lines. Is it possible they tried to swap the coolant and didn't fill right, leaving a bunch of air in there? I've seen a lot of good sugge...

Re: Engine swap

The ECU and wiring harnesses are different between the 2013 and 2016. I haven't heard of that done before, so you'd be a guinea pig as far as I know. The 2016 has different cosmetics, so there's a good chance there may be minor fitment differences that would make the parts incompatible. I would try ...

Re: Using 0-20w oil PCX 150 in the tropics

the process of altering the structure of the oil to have variable viscosity reduces it's capacity to lubricate. This is false. The advantages of variable weight oil VASTLY outweigh the disadvantages in terms of lubrication. 0w20 is thinner than Honda recommends. I would not run it or recommend it. ...

Re: How long can the battery last without being started?

If you're parking the scooter for more than a couple of weeks, I'd install a Battery Tender Jr (the same one Mel mentioned). They will extend the battery life of the scooter, since these little batteries don't like being fully discharged. Here's a link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CITK8S/ An AGM b...
