Re: Health benefits of riding
Someone mentioned that a 250cc pcx would be great and that might work very well for me. Not complaining about the 150, but like you said about a heavier bike at fast speeds... The day was windless with very little traffic. I have noticed the "lightness" a bit too with traffic (gusts) and w...

Re: Life saving tip
Harrowing stories, binje! Reminds me of when I used to ride a bicycle in Manhattan. It seems I have been getting involuntary practice of emergency stops recently. Once in the rain (for those of you in London) on the elevated section of the A4 when going between a stopped line of traffic, a dingbat d...

Re: Health benefits of riding
My riding tends to be on back roads, with curves and a fair amount of vibration from the road surface. I can feel my core muscles working to keep my back erect--something I don't need to do in a car--and also feel my body working to compensate for the effect of wind and general jostling caused by ri...

Re: Health benefits of riding
Your experience sounds different than mine, SECoda. For me, at around 55 the bike seems more loosely connected to the pavement, if that makes any sense. It is more prone to shifting in the lane because of wind, for instance. Maybe there is more wind here. And maybe your wheels are better balanced th...

Re: Life saving tip
Homie, I too often am mentally exhausted after a ride. Hypervigilance is tiring. Re the "guy behind us," Mel posted about the Knight Riderz led running and brake lights. I installed them too and they should really wake up anyone behind you. I agree that intersections are the most dangerous...

Re: Life saving tip
Mel46, thanks for your advice to remember that other drivers are looking for a car where we are. As an aside, I installed the Knight Riderz led lights you posted about and am very happy with them. Re your wife, has she taken safety training? I did and thought it was fabulous, well worth the time and...

Re: Life saving tip
Between stoners and drunks the highways are a thrill a minute! That Hondells song is an ear worm, Homie! I went back and watched it again and you're right, she does fall off the bike--should have been wearing her helmet. :D Yeah, they must have had a great time making it. I think hearing it on the r...

Re: Health benefits of riding
Apparently if you rode for an hour a day, you'd lose about half a pound a week, without further calorie intake. Or so someone says--I didn't do the math. For me, it's not the calories so much as the continual need to adjust and respond, which uses lots of muscles in a good way. And of course the pur...

So you can reach 67 mph? Not me. Feels unstable above 55 and haven't gotten it past about 60. I'm at 5200-6000 feet and wonder if that affects top speed.
How does it feel at 67 mph?

Life saving tip
Practice emergency stops once a season, says David Hough, author of Proficient Motorcycling: the Ultimate Guide to Riding Well. This saved me a couple of weeks ago. An SUV pulled out from the right. I couldn't see the driver, nor she me because of a truck. I hit the brakes hard and skidded a bit but...

Health benefits of riding
While on a long ride on twisty, bumpy back roads, I thought about the exercise I was getting: core muscles, neck (holding the helmet), and many other muscles as my body responded to the ride. I also was very alert, scanning for hazards. I returned a little tired and exhilarated. Part of what is goin...

Re: Can't go above 55?
I just hit 600 miles on mine and it maxes out between 55 and 60. I had to ride it back from the dealer 60 miles from my home at highway speeds, so rode it longer at max speed than I would have preferred during break in. Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums and I'm a new owner of a PCX 150. I rode my ...

Re: Inexpensive top box recommendations?
Thanks for the tips, Ratster. I looked at Bestem boxes on Amazon- great reviews and prices. Have you mounted one on a pcx? Maybe a honda mount for that. That's a nice looking case, M6AEY. I had been thinking of a generic box using the Honda or the Givi bracket. How was the mounting of the Givi brack...

My wife, my scooter and me
We took a backroads ride today to visit a friend in western Colorado. She's wearing my cool weather armor jacket and one of my old helmets. Beautiful late summer day, a few trees are changing already.

That's a nice looking case, M6AEY. I had been thinking of a generic box using the Honda or the Givi bracket. How was the mounting of the Givi bracket? About how long did that take? Did you get a photo of your pcx with all the stuff and the bedside table? That would be great to see! Hi Jarec I've jus...

Re: Tall windscreens
That four states sounds really challenging, on a pcx. Easier on s Burgman I guess. The drive train problem on your wife' scoot makes me glad I bought an extended warranty. My wife and I have a mid height Givi wind screen also, but we added a section to it to increase its height, though not as wide a...

Re: Tall windscreens
In hindsight the mid Givi might have been better for me. I suppose I could order that, too. That's why I went with the mid Givi. It does fine at the speeds I drive most of the time and seems to improve the aerodynamics a bit. It also fits the bike style better. I don't notice the crosswind issues li...
