Re: Front brake maintenance

So it was worse than I thought, partially seized and not something I could have fixed myself, £35 for the guy that did though.

Front brake maintenance

I've just come back after 3 weeks away with the bike parked out in the rain...the front wheel needed a push to get it going, it had basically seized up with some rust on the front disc. Any cleaning/maintenance tips? I thought about using some wd-40 but that might not be the best thing to use on bra...

Re: How cold will you ride?

Managed to get a pair of Richa Arctic's over christmas, RIDE magazine's best buy winter glove, so cold hands shouldnt be a problem anymore!

The only conditions I wont ride in are icy or too windy, other than that I'm good to go!

Over 10000 miles, what to do?

My last service was at 7,500 and I've decided with my limited technical knowledge to maintain the bike myself from now on,
So what sort of things should I be doing and when approx should I be doing them?

Re: Selling tips ?

I'm actually a bit confused about why he would go up to a bike unless he finally has some way to secure it. Thats why I'm now thinking a cheap CBF500 is probably better, where I live now is more sheltered than when it was pushed and blown over but its still not ideal. At the moment I just want some...

Re: Selling tips ?

You're all correct, its parked outside all year round with no rain cover, I used to use a cover until it blew over a few times (one of the perks of living in rainy windy Scotland), its also been pushed over by kids, so yeah If I had a garage it would be in pristine condition, having said that I coul...

Re: Selling tips ?

Ah sorry for the lack of info, bought new in January 2011 with now almost 9000 miles on the clock, full service history (although I opted out of the valve check at the 7500 service) I suspect gn2 is right, although it does look a LOT better when cleaned up! photos were taken just after an Inverness ...

Selling tips ?

When selling is it generally worth replacing battered/scratched panels? Obviously I'd get a better price but would it outweigh the cost of the new panels? My PCX is pretty battered so I'm not expecting too much... about 3 panels need replacing and maybe the exhaust too.. Any advice peeps? (Yes I kno...

The new one is better in every way except for the front headlight design, I prefer the original one which has a little more attitude and character. Would still take the new one of course.

Re: Battery Life?

From what you said it seems it's not a flooding problem - but maybe it's worth trying > ignition on, accelerator to max throttle (Do not hold lhs rear brake lever in at all!), press and hold the ignition button for 5-8 seconds, release and try starting normally. Do this 2-3 times if needed. This is...

Thats what I thought, anyway after waiting an hour It finally started, strangely it seems reluctant to start when the weather is 'close' (high pressure, slighty humid) for some reason.

Battery Life?

I'm on my second battery and the bike's refusing to start, the dash comes on, it ticks over and then dies. I normally use the bike several times a week but havent used it for four or five days, I cant see how this is normal, just what is the expected battery life? Am I really going to have to fork o...
