Re: Loving My PCX in Philly

A scooter guy in a zoot suit reminds me of an era long gone. Seems a bit mod-ish to me. Which is a nice thing to do. While you scoot, dress up!

Re: Wide tyres and insurance

Just one more thing... Strictly speaking the City Grip would be illegal to use in Finland from December to February when winter tyres are mandatory. The law in Finland requires that a motorcycle has rugged tyres for winter use (what ever that is). I reckon it means a blocky texture with big grooves,...

Re: Wide tyres and insurance

@ GN2 It's possible we are talking or thinking about different things here. What you may call winter in the British isles, is probably more like late spring or early autumn in Finland. I commuted to work on a Honda Zoomer through two winters with temperatures falling as low as minus 25. The Zoomer h...

Re: Wide tyres and insurance

In my opinion, Michelin City Grip is not particularly well suited for winter riding. The tread is too smooth. A proper winter tyre looks like an off-road tyre.

Re: Wide tyres and insurance

I don't like the IRCs in the first place and it is safe to use winter tyres throughout summer, whilst the other way around is not. ------------------ IRC makes winter tyres as well. They are safe to use all year round as a replacement for the stock tyres. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4922419...

Re: 2014 HONDA GROM

The MSX (Grom) is but a Honda Wave in disguise (and with a new frame). The engine is 125cc, has about 9.5 HP and can achieve 90 km/h. These minibikes are all the rage in Thailand. If you don't like the minibike status, you should consider its bigger sibling -- the Honda Wave. There's a new retro mod...

No, it's not. I had one for a short while. It's liquid-cooled with a small fan attached to the engine side. Elite equals Honda Lead outside the US. The new Honda Lead 125 has the same engine as the PCX.

Rather than an umbrella, it's a parasol. The Thais don't want to get a tan.

In Thailand (and maybe some other counties, Brazil?), it does have an alarm by default.

Re: Warning to those changing the gear/transmission oil.

Any maintenance should be carried out only after having carefully prepared for the job. Check the facts in the manual and acquire required tools. Is it so hard to google or search in this forum? A hundred years experience with auto maintenance is of no use if you rush and choose to ignore manufactur...

Re: Georgia riders - need some clarification on the law

In Thailand, no two-wheeler, no matter what size, is allowed on the freeways or expressways (tollways, elevated freeways). There's a total ban on motorcycles and scooters on true restricted freeways (like Bangkok-Chonburi freeway). They are called 'motorway' in Thailand. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...

Re: Ride Thailand

Have you been to Ko Chang yet? I'm afraid the best scenery is in the northern part of Thailand around Chiang Mai (Mae Hong Son loop). A bit too far to go from Pattaya if you only have a week to spare.

Re: 1964 CUSHMAN

I think it's a Cushman Road King later than '57 judging by the number of cooling louvers. http://www.flickr.com/photos/howard33/7395360224/ When the '57 model had cooling problems, Cushman added louvers. They kept adding more over the next few years, which might mean they never did completely solve ...

The OP has opened two threads on the same subject. He's still talking about the S-Wing (not to be confused with the big Honda Silverwing).
