Re: Round the World on a PCX

Definitely recommend the michelin city grips mentioned above. How's the seat treating your arse? I did a 13hour ride once, and the last 1.5hrs were really uncomfortable. I loaded my pcx with tent, sleeping bag, etc, etc, for a round the UK coast trip and found the suspension was really struggling wi...

Re: what trousers do you wear?

Cheap thermal long johns under kevlar reinforced jeans, with armour, under cheap waterproof over trousers. Wont stop your arse getting wet though due to the pcx seat design. As for Draggin Jeans, I bought a pair of their oil skin jeans that claim to be water "resistant". They are very well...

Drive belt

At 13,800+ miles I now consider my PCX as near dangerous on dual carriage ways or fast A roads. I have to keep the throttle wide open all the time and only get an indicated 55mph (the reality is probably under 50mph). The result of this poor speed is following traffic gets frustrated and makes risky...

Congrat's TC3. Can you give us a regular updates on how you find the bike? Same goes for anyone else that gets any of the NC700 variants.

Re: New PCX top speed???

With 13,000 miles on the clock I don't get higher than 56-57mph top speed indicated (not gps, so probably slower - lorries overtake me now). This could be down to the belt getting near it's replacement at the 15k service.

Wish I was there. Had a great holiday in '98 along the coast from you. The sea was so warm it was like getting in a bath :)

Lots of lovely twisties for the pcx too.

According to http://www.thevincent.com/vinprod.html the engine number (F10AB/1/6475) makes it a 1951 1000cc Rapide C.

That much :o I'm not up on Vincent models, I've heard about the Black Shadow and the Lightening - don't know which model this is though. On the original pic I can zoom in and get the engine number. I agree, it's nice to see it being used. My brother's got an early 60's Norton 500 Dominator that he t...

Not mine unfortunately. Spotted on a recent trip on the pcx - I think this was Skegness.

Shame about the tank bag being in the way of it's good looks.

Hein Gericke are now in administration :o Their website no longer takes orders, but you can go to the individual shops and see what you can find - they're having an everything must go sale - go get those lobster claws ;) Oh, no hang on, They put their prices up so they could knock them down again an...

Re: What would you change on the PCX

What gn2 said on the previous page plus more robust suspension - I've just done 1300 miles in 5 days and the only thing that was a problem was the suspension not really being up to the job.

Re: received my honda pcx top box and plates that it sits on

It's easier if the scoot's on it's centre stand - There are two lugs on the back of the top box that locate into two slots in the plate (these are just above the back of the seat. Slip the box into position and then put the key in the lock and turn it (as if you were unlocking it). now make sure tha...

Re: Price for a Service ?

That's about what I pay. They can't check the valve clearance in the time it takes and the engine doesn't have time to cool down either. Sometimes get a courtesy pcx. Note: Took my KTM for it's first service £165 (at 600ml). They said they would need the bike first thing in the morning and wouldn't ...

Re: KTM 125 Duke.

I oil my KTM's chain every time it's dirty. They're o-ring chains, so they need oiled less often than you'd think. Just oil it every 500-1000 miles with a good silicone spray. That's useful information, thanks. I've ordered myself one of the automatic oilers mentioned by qed. I'll take it off the d...

True but it's still very entertaining especially further back in the field. The support racing is often fantastic.

Re: KTM 125 Duke.

It's very well put together - higher standard of finishes than the pcx, but honestly why aren't all bikes just twist and go like scooters? In traffic the ktm is a pain. Suspension is good and it's a bit more perky from standstill (it's still being run in - 7,500 rpm max) than the pcx. My main proble...
