Re: First service.

What model year PCX? I have a 2011, and the manual states check valves at 600 miles. I did it myself, and sure enough both valves were off. The exhaust valve by a significant number. Checked again at 5000 miles, just the exhaust, checked again at 8,000 nothing. and then again at 10k, nothing. So eve...

Re: Heat Crack in Frame

Picture would help. I can't see the frame (metal) cracking from heat and sun. This is heavy gauge steel here! Melts at thousand degree temps! If the frame is cracked, the bike is most likely totaled in the eye's of insurance, and at the very least DO NOT RIDE IT!!! It is very dangerous! now, if you ...

Re: Idling Stop

I wonder what mechanical remnants of this feature are remaining on the US version of PCX. If I ever see them they are coming off... preposterous. From what I can see on youtube, the way you Yahoo's drive overseas you seldom stop for anything :) The engine shuts down into a low pressure start positi...

Re: Helmet Law

I hate to even get into this subject because it fires people up... All I can go by is what I see on a weekly basis. I work in the ED in a decent sized hospital. We see a fair bit of motorcycle and ATV traumas. I can say from what I see that people wearing full face helmets tend to do a lot better o...

They will. Especially with a cold engine.

Re: Honda PCX 125 Service Time

at 5000 miles I'd have the oil changed, clean the oil "filter" and adjust the valves. Now your about at the decision point with valves. The manual states to check them every 2500 miles. Even doing it myself I think that is absurd. I checked at 600, 2500, and 7500. Only had to adjust at 600...

Re: Helmet Law

In the state of Illinois, the only riding restriction is eye protection, and that can be met by wearing sun glasses, or a windshield that goes above the eye sight line (not many know that rule) I continually see sport bike riders with the helmet strapped to the back of the bike. I can't quite figure...

Observation report: Leaning!

When I first got the PCX I was afraid to lean much in the turns. Well 2 years later, I've conquered that fear. So much so I've ground the center stand foot pegs into a nice sharp angle. Not really worried about that. But today while giving the bike a washing, I noticed the fuel overfill collar drain...

Re: Coolant change

Will be fine, coolant is good to -36C. If you are worried, purchase the concentrate and make it a 60/40 ratio coolant/pure water For added freeze protection down to -45C if I recall correctly.

Re: Rotella t 5 oil

Manual states 10w-30 oil with JASO MB. JASO MB is a Japanese oil society spec meaning lowest coefficient of friction. The only oil I ever found to carry that spec is Hondas oil. Even then my dealer does not stock it. We have what's called a dry clutch. The main reason for the JASO MA2 MA MB specs. I...

Re: How a CVT works - youtube

Yup, exactly like that. Changing the diameter of the the 2 pulleys changes the gear rations. basically an infinite number of combination of rations. Theoretically, maximizing the fuel efficiency, or power demanded at any given point. In practicality, completely Fing annoying in performance cars. I h...

Take it lightly. Making fun of some of the laws of other countries. Don't worry, we all got problems. I live 30 minute drive North of the Murder Capital of the USA. (Chicago, Illinois) Just last weekend (48 hours) 47 people were shot. 5 died. That's 1 shooting an hour!!! Good times. I get my UK view...

Re: Installed new spark plug at 5000 miles.

Pulled it at 5k, and 10k. Readjusted the gap to spec, and used it again. I switched at 100 miles to a Iridium tip plug. I'll check it again at 15k and see if to replace or not. I have 2 more ready to go. Should have enough spark plugs to last the life of the scooter.

You Europe guys have some issues. I keep hearing about this "take helmet off" at fueling stations complaint. And now this "can not fuel while sitting on motorcycle" I've been to New Jersey once. I was pissed off that I couldn't fuel my own damn car. I stepped out of the car and w...

Re: Chicago here...

Cable loop with black plastic covering is the helmet tie/strap. Goes through the D-link buckle on your helmet. Attaches to the half loop steel on the left side of the seat hinge. As for the parking brake not working, that is due to improper assembly by the dealer. Almost all PCX's have this issue. t...

Hi and Welcome! I'm about a 40 minute drive south of Chicago, in Mokena. You sure picked the right scooter for the terrible streets Chicago has. I was in a scooter pack touring LSD and various high and fancy neighborhoods, which required cutting through the rough South Side. The 12'' and 10'' scoote...

Yup, run the regular 87. You are wasting money on anything more, our simple engines will not adjust for a higher octane fuel.
