Re: Rear brake shoe life / effectiveness. 2015 PCX150.

@mymitzi That seems like very high mileage indeed for such a job to be done for the first time. My first front break pads needed replacing - they were literally down to the steel - at 25,000 kilometres (15,500 miles), and I do not break hard either, but just cruise to work and back a few days/week a...

Stator inspection, replacement or rebuild and/or the reasons why.

Stator inspection, replacement or rebuild and/or the reasons why that is necessary. Tried searching for videos (any posts at all actually) about this, and unless I am mistaken there seem not to be any in any part of the forum. I am hoping that I am wrong, so before I go farther, please help me with....

Re: How many miles do you have on your PCX

March 2015 registered 150cc. Bought Jan 2016 with 4,400 kilos. Now 40,300 kilos (25,025 miles) and just about to have the entirety of the CVT compents (inc clutch) replaced. Do not worry about a few thou' miles / kilos. Rather concern yourself only with a proven service history. I am more than gene...

Rear brake shoe life / effectiveness. 2015 PCX150.

Hello, all. I am curious about the rear brake life / a perceived reduction in effectiveness. I am not asking for technical help, I am just wondering what your expectations are for the 2015 PCX150 brake shoe life expectancy and effectiveness. Set 1 (from new). 0 - 35,000 kilo's (21,700 miles on these...

Re: Coolant / Final Drive Oil

As JGE64 said, there is little pressure, for obvious reasons. There is no combustion anywhere near this part, unlike in the oil sump just below the pistons. I suggest that you do as the manual says - replace once every two years. If you are like me, you want the bike to do years and years of service...

Is this equivalent to WD40?
On my previous bike I killed one of the screws trying to get it out of the master reservoir.
Wonder if i can get the one you use here in Japan,

Re: Stuck Screw On Front Brake Master Cylinder

I change my brake fluid a little more often than most. Once a year and again after replacing the brake pads. (I know some will say that is too often, but it does not harm and takes very little fluid.) I suggest that, even if you do not change the oil so often, you could give the screws half a turn o...

Re: Coolant / Final Drive Oil

I do not know the coolant you showed a picture of, so I cannot say whether it complies with Honda's specs for the PCX, but, my official PCX manual says this... Pro Honda HP Coolant or an equivalent high quality ethylene glycol antifreeze containing silicate-free corrosion inhibitors. The coolant sys...

Re: How-To: PCX 150 CVT MAINTENANCE - 25,000 miles

Thanks for the PDF! Many of here have made videos, tutorials, etc and this is a very nicely put together document. I would add, that the service manual is very strict on where and how much grease is applied to the CVT area - the clutch spindel/nut should not have any grease added and only a tiny am...

How-To: PCX 150 CVT MAINTENANCE - 25,000 miles

40,000 kilometre / 25,000 mile CVT maintenance home-made 'how-to' PDF file in my Google Drive with open (no login) link. Hope this helps. (Admin please move if I have put it in a less-than-ideal place, thanks). Please let me know if there is anything missing from this how-to. I think it's quite thor...

Re: 2015/150 clutch/cvt replacement at 40,000 kilo/25,000 mi

After another chat with the mechanic, I now know about another assembly that I need to break-down at this mileage in addition to what I have been doing every 10,000 kilos. After breaking down rear pulleys/clutch assembly as usual... Remove clutch weights (pads) from their pins on the backing plate a...

Re: 2015/150 clutch/cvt replacement at 40,000 kilo/25,000 mi

No need to replace anything in the clutch unless its worn beyond the service limit. Which should be detailed in the service manual. At 25,000 miles it'll all be fine unless its been seriously abused. But its your money..... Better buy a whole brand new scooter just to be sure. :D Not abused at all....

2015/150 clutch/cvt replacement at 40,000 kilo/25,000 mile?

CVT taken apart every 10,000 kilometres / 6200 miles for inspection, cleaning, etc. Belt/rollers replaced routinely at 20,000 kilo's. Just done 40,000 kilo's inspection. (By-the-way - I have replaced both clutch bearings twice at this point, last time a 31,500 kilo's.) Visible wear (scoring in line ...

Re: How many miles do you have on your PCX

Interesting. So what would the plate be if a rider had an antique ride, say a WWII motorcycle with a sidecar? I saw a picture of one once that someone in the UK rode. It would be as it was when the bike was registered. When I was a boy (1970s) the formula was [letter - three numbers - three letters...

Re: PCX 50,000 kms Oil Change (Fully synth)

You waited until 50 k / km to change the cvt parts? Wow! I changed the belt/rollers at 20k / km. I also take it all apart every 10 k / km to check wear on each part. I have just done the 40 k / km breakdown and it looks as though the clutch inner (aka - cluth weights / plates) and the clutch outer (...

Re: Rear brake fluid

In answer to the original question, which I can see is a few weeks old now (so you may have done the work by now). You said you can access and fluid reservoir, so you don't need to be told about getting the Tupperware off. The method for bleeding brakes is as follows unless you have an automated bra...
