First (and subsequent) servicing

Post by Honda4me »

Hi all,

Bit confused over when the first service is due. Book seems to say 1000kms but I will change the oil anyway at around half that. Anyone know different from that?

On most of my previous bikes the service intervals were around 5000 to 7500kms and I change the engine oil much more frequently than that.

Has anyone else serviced their bike themselves from new and has advice or findings you want to share from your experiences?

As for warranty, I'm not fussed about that. I'd rather service the bike properly myself and more regularly than required so I know it's in good order. Scoots are pretty hard to break and the hardest part is usually getting the plastics off. $50 on parts should last about 3 or 4 services.

Follow the book.
If you change the oil more frequently you're just wasting your time and money.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong
