Coolant change

Post by Robbie »

OK, so I found this thread http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f ... t&start=20, but it doesn't advise how much coolant is needed or any bleeding procedure.

I have managed to get about 300ml of coolant in the radiator which just doesn't seem to be enough (even for a 125cc engine). Radiator is full to the brim. Is there a process for bleeding? I can't start the engine just yet as I am awaiting a replacement injector (fuel inlet snapped off).

Will running the engine circulate the coolant, or is there a bleed plug in the cylinder head I have missed?

Any help appreciated.

here is the coolant http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039O ... UTF8&psc=1

here is the latest procedure, not sure why it would differ from a 2011 PCX

Many thanks homie. That confirms engine needs to run to bleed it.

Much appreciated.

Good Lord!
13 US dollars on Amazon.com and the equivalent of 59 US dollars on Amazon Japan.
Me thinks a longer search is ahead.
Or... just by an equivalent silicate-free version from another maker here.

this isn't something Ive considered yet for maintenance. At what point is it necessary or recommended? I have 7000 miles on my 2013. No issues with overheating. I do check the amounts regularly.

Not sure why the roll eyes. Seems a reasonable question to me.

It's not really about the cooling, but more the corrosion inhibitors which have a finite life. Long life anti freeze will last 5 years, but standard may only be 2 or 3 years. Not sure what the PCX came with, but I would put money on the standard stuff.
