Tall Windscreen For 2015 PCX150

Post by jblye »

I've been reading a lot of posts/questions re availability of a tall windscreen for the 2015
PCX150 that is comparable to the tall Givi screen that is made for the 2013 model.

My impression is that there is not one available from any manufacturer that is
as tall as that tall Givi screen.

Even worse, several posts have indicated that Givi has no plans to make the tall
one for the 2015 PCX; instead, they are simply adding a few inches to their
standard model.

If necessary, I'll probably buy one of the Givi S180T "supplementary" screens that
attach to the top of any windscreen......but I suspect that such an arrangement
would still not be as good as the tall Givi screen that was available for the 2013
PCXs......and the S180T is somewhat expensive.

Is there REALLY no TALL windscreen available for the 2015 PCXs ? The weather is
starting to turn cool here.........

If you can go without the Givi screen, you can purchase a tall windscreen from Honda. It's probably more expensive. But it looks nice from what I've seen. Otherwise, that attachment Givi screen will do.

The real tall screens may be a double-edged sword. Maybe a hit to top speed and more affect from gusts, etc.

That's true. You'll be able to get up to top speed quicker, but wind and noise will be more noticeable on your ride.

The 2015 PCX150 accessories are now posted on the Honda Powersports web site.
Here's the info re the tall windscreen:

http://powersports.honda.com/2015/pcx/accessories.aspx

If any of you have installed this new Honda tall windscreen on your 2015 PCX150,
how effective was it regarding wind noise and buffeting. Honda says:

" designed to direct airflow up and over the rider, creating a comfortable air pocket"

Pretty expensive, but I'd get one if it REALLY works well to minimize wind noise and
buffeting. I think that my Honda dealer would probably give me a discount ( maybe
15 %). My impression is that Honda windscreens are generally considered very well
made.

What I really want, though: A windscreen from Givi that is comparable to the 323DT
model that is available for the 2013 PCXs. Givi apparently doesn't plan to make such
a screen for the 2015s. Oh, well.......

I'm interested as well. Though I'm not a fan of the look the taller screens have, plus everyone I've spoke to said it doesn't help with wind & road noise. So if it does indeed work, I would like to hear some feedback on experiences with it. It's starting to get colder where I am at. So it'd be nice to get something to help me duck & cover the cold.

As an addendum to my whining about tall windscreens:

If anyone has used the new Givi S180T "supplementary"
windscreen:

ww.giviusa.com/givi-products/accessories/s180t-universal-deflector-clear-detail

How effective is it in reducing wind noise and buffeting ?

It looks pretty cool, but does it REALLY work ? Pros / cons ?

It's fairly pricey, too......but if it really worked well, it might be worth the price.
It appears to be well made, and it could be removed in hot weather if desired.
Based on the looks of the upper part of the new Honda tall windscreen, it also appears
that fitting the S180T onto it would be easy (no "flip" at the top of the Honda
windscreen).

Thanks

After digesting the responses on this and other web sites, I've decided to wait a while to see whether Givi will change its mind and start making a tall windscreen for the 2015 PCXs (similar to the 323DT that they made for the 2013 PCXs)......because:

- Several people have reported on this and other sites that Honda's 2015 PCX tall windscreen puts the air flow
directly onto the helmet face, with much wind noise and buffeting

- Givi's new 1136ST for the 2015 PCXs is considerably shorter and narrower than the 323DT, so we could probably
expect it to perform about like the Honda tall screen

- I haven't found any real world tests of the Givi S180T shield, so I hesitate to invest $ 160 on it without knowing what to expect.

If I have erred on any of these conclusions, please let me know. I realize that these conclusions might not apply where
shorter riders are concerned.

Thanks for the responses.

I talked at great length this morning to a Givi USA customer service rep.

He said that it is highly unlikely that Givi would produce a 323DT-sized windscreen for the 2015 PCX150.....and certainly
not before next Spring, when the new riding season starts.

He also said that he had not received any feedback yet from those who have bought the new S180T spoiler. He did
say, though (much to my surprise), that he had ridden a BMW which had one of those attached to its windscreen.
His only complaint about it: The mounting bracket intruded somewhat in his field of vision. I suspect that the S180T
will be tested by some of the motorcycling magazines eventually.

He suggested that I contact a company called "Cee Bailey" to see whether they would make a custom windscreen
for my 2015 PCX150. I'll check into that and report my findings. He said that might be pricey, though.

Been enjoying the read here, I have a 2015 as well. I have to say, I really enjoy the stock screen. Surprised me to learn that. My height probably justifies that at 5'4ish. But in cooler weather, maybe Not so much, heh? So, I'm on the prowl for a screen too. Not just considering the Givi, but others. I won't mention them here because it will only confuse matters. This is about Givi, Yes? Ok

Just want to fixie a broken link offered so kindly above by Johnny and then add some pics afterwards of the deflector and screens ya'll are chatting about. Might help make things clearer....visuals work. ;) You know how I love me pics :P

Linky: For the universal deflector screen http://www.giviusa.com/givi-products/ac ... ear-detail

Comes in clear or smoked versions.

I'm interested in the smoke version attachment screen. Then I can take it off in the summer time.

Jakautz, the dark version might be a problem if you have to look through it to get proper air deflection.
That wouldn't pose a problem during the day time, but looking through it when riding at night might
be a real problem. It looks fairly dark.

But a dark one would look cool, no doubt......like bat wings.

I wish that a couple of you would buy those gizmos and tell us how you like them !!

Just a thought........

Unless Givi changes its mind about making a tall windscreen, I think that I will probably end up wit an 1136ST
windscreen and the S180T spoiler.......but the jury is still out. Maybe one / some of you will find another brand
of truly tall windscreen that will get the job done. I hope.

I gotta find a new seat first! New seats are too stiff for long rides.

I talked to a Cee Bailey technical rep today.

They do not make windscreens for the 2015 PCX , and they do not have any plans to do so.

Knowing that, here are my first 2 choices so far :

- Honda's "tall" windscreen (possibly with an S180T shield attached)

- Givi's new 1136ST windscreen (possibly with an S180T shield attached)

I'm hoping that other tall choices will surface, but no luck yet. There don't appear to be any Givi
323DT clones out there

I may have to get over it and get the OEM Honda tall shield.

Do I dare mention another breed of screen? Will it mess things up here? o_O
Bad part about mentioning Fabbri (there, I said it), is that they're not in the States. I know of one online dealer that sells Fabbri here but not for our new 2015. Oh the price we pay for the new kid on the block. Dig deep for Patience.
I will post pics later of the Fabbri's three (3) screen offers. But Now, Dinner awaits and it's.......

I have a Honda Tall windscreen on order for my 2015 PCX150. Has anybody else installed one on a 2015 PCX150? I'm wondering how hard it is to pry that u-shaped shield off after you remove the two front retaining screws. TIA!
