Strange, mildly annoying buzz

Post by Rumpleproofskin »

My pcx 125 has developed a weird low volume buzz after the engines warmed up. It seems to be coming from near the front. Could it be a rattly body part? Only done 1200 miles on it. I only notice it on the move and it's amplified when passing parked vehicles. Mildly annoying like a zzzzzzz sound just hovering above the engine note. The panels all seem firm but I can't go fiddling with front panels while on the move. That would be silly. Anyone else have this buzz?

Yeah. Everything works perfectly. To be honest the buzz is so quiet I think I'm just being pedantic. For all I know it's just the normal sound of scooters

It's a long shot but I had this once and it was the tax disc holder vibrating.

Ah ha. Could well be the tax disc holder. I'll have a fiddle. Thanks for the tip.

Just live with it :), I too had this issue but given all the plastics involved and the quietness of the scooter's enginem the tiniest of sounds will be heard.

So you still have tax disk holders? Do they need to go on the front of a bike somewhere? We used to need tax disk holders here but they could go on the back of the bike under the registration plate. But now with the internet, we dont need to show a tax disk. Police can punch in your rego to their smart phone and quickly see if you have paid or not.

My Silverwing buzzes like CRAZY, it's a loose fairing below the windscreen. I need to order a new one, one of the mounting brackets for it snapped off. You might have the same thing, check the center fairing below the windscreen.

I was sitting at traffic lights this morning enjoying the tranquility with idle stop engaged when this old Mitsubishi Lancer with an old driver wearing Roy Orbison sun glasses hit the back of me. Only damage appear to be it cracked my plastic tax disc holder below the rear rego plate. As we dont need to display tax disks any more I got off lightly! I guess the rear mudguard bent but cant see any damage to it. Its a nice soft plastic.
