Lane Sharing with Fabio & other nuts...

Post by homie »

Lets take a ride with Fabio and embrace the definition of chaos;
behavior so unpredictable as to appear random, owing to great sensitivity to small changes in conditions

I'm really trying to be jealous :D

I wonder if you riders realize that the car drivers couldn't hear your horn unless their window is down. Have you ever tried the horn test? Sit in your car with the engine running, a/c on, radio on, and have a friend just honk your bike horn like you see in that video. It sounds a bit like the music coming from the radio.

yea... this kind of traffic flow with motorcycles can only be practical in countries without lawyers, I don't get it.

The car drivers are conditioned to take extra care. Must take time to get this way. Where I live this would be extremely dangerous.

Its dangerous anywhere.
I was moving between two lines of stationary cars and a taxi decided it would be OK to let a passenger open the door and get out right in front of me.
The Forza ABS works a treat.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

It's less dangerous I guess where people drive on the left side of the car and exit to the curb but you can't convince me all passengers climb over the console to exit without opening a door into traffic over there in UK town.
So... NO this does not work well in the USA where 90 percent of our drivers are alone and exiting the vehicle in the street. These lane sharer's are just too much for people to deal with here in Chicago. The bicyclist would be the first to say no and they are a huge lobby taking the lions share of car door reupholstering already, and they aren't moving 50 miles an hour :)

In the big cities here I think some would start notching their stick shifters for every bike they nailed. :ugeek: It would piss them off. :o

Not to mention bikers knocking each other off as they veere in and out of the splitting lane and aggressively try to pass each other. And every car in town must have scratches all up and down it from bike mirrors.

The horn....the one that comes on these scooters....they remind me of what you would hear on a bicycle or child's electric car. That's why I added a Bad Boy horn. Now i can get driver's attention. I did this shortly after a driver in a big SUV moved over into my lane while on the cellphone. I was beeping the horn constantly but she didn't turn her head but just moved right into my lane. I was trapped between her vehicle and a cement center median, trying to balance the bike so that it wouldn't hit either. I finally lifted my right foot, with a steel toed engineer boot on it, and kicked her door. That was extremely hard to do, but it got her attention and she moved back over to her right....only with an added dent in her door. A few days later my wife had the same issue. You can't compete against a cellphone with the little horn that comes on these scooters, especially if the engine is running, the radio is playing, and the a/c is on also.
