the engine isnt designed to cruise at speeds higher than 100kph. other than that still looking for one. its a 124cc bike, if you want to cruise at higher speeds than that, get a bigger scoot.

you might be right but i'm not convinced yet! dont see why they'd restrict all the bikes all over the world just for the EU regs.

Why don't you ask them?
It may be partly EU regs and partly a trade-off to give enhanced fuel economy and acceleration.
Either way Honda have the ability to make the PCX 125 much faster but choose not to.
Remember that the EU regs also allow for 125s to exceed 100kph, (and many 125s do) but they are in a different class.

if i had a good contact i would ask them. if you want to know anything about Daikin air conditioners i can ask one of their top engineers personally. no contacts at honda unfortunately.

again, you might be right. it would be interesting to find out for sure.

I would guess the current restrictions are for economy.

I've ridden for roughly 200 miles straight at the rev limiter on a trip once, I didn't even get 80 US mpg for that tank. It was such an outlier that I didn't enter the tank in Fuelly. Most of my riding is between 40mph and 50mph, but the moment I get up past 55, my gas mileage tanks.

Cool! Wonder what it would take to make my 125 a 150 using those new Honda parts... Or just save my money and get a NC700X :)

The NC700 series motorcycles look very nice, but I'm surprised to see so much interest on the PCX forum. It seems like the market for a 125cc scooter and a 670cc motorcycle would be very different. Besides the fact that it looks like a very capable motorcycle at a competitive price, what is the attraction? Just curious :geek:

The only reason I went for a PCX was its fuel economy. That aspect has been slightly disappointing (not meant sarcastically, it's just a bit worse than I had hoped for). The NC700 promises good fuel economy as well, and even though it will never be as economical as the PCX, the margin would be pretty thin if I were to ride no faster than the PCX is capable of. That, and it's a proper motorcycle, first of its class to get a DCT (which I most definitely want!), has ABS and room for the occasional groceries, and will do 100mph with relative ease.

I like the way the Integra looks, but thats personal preference.

Fuel economy isn't a selling point for me since I don't commute, the PCX is for enjoyment, as is my Miata.

Ironically I prefer automatic on scooters but manual for cars :).

rainburg: I want a NC700 or maybe older NT700 for weekend 2 up cruising. I will keep PCX for my urban commuting but when you add 2 up and luggage its not for longer range touring. 700 seems a good balance between economy and guts to do that. And I can stick with the Honda brand. even my outboard motor is a honda! The 700 wont replace the PCX it will compliment it!

I don't really like how the Integra looks, and I'd rather have a more motorcycle like seating position, but I wonder how well the Integra manages to deflect wind and such. If I got the coin to get one, I'd really have to do a test ride..

most of the main positives have been mentioned about the NC700 have been mentioned. one additional thing that has people so excited is that incredibly cheap price. its A LOT of bike for the money.

lets face it, a lot of people on PCX forums are new riders and the NC700 is well placed for people who are new to motorcycling! that being said a lot of my budget conscious old bike dog friends are VERY excited about the NC700 as it would be a good all around tourer for japan.

i do hate the under seat fuel cap. obviously the engineers arent really riders/ tourers to put it there! most people like to strap stuff to the passenger seat for touring and that would be a real PITA with this bike!

I think lots of the interest here is, the PCX is a scooter -- just that. It's not capable of doing everything the NC700 is. I used to have a Honda PC800, and I really miss it, because I could load it up and take it on the highway without worrying about getting run over. The PCX is like a gateway drug as your first bike, it's great at what it does, but leaves you wanting more. Honestly, if I could afford it, I would have my dirt bike, my scooter, my truck, and a cruiser... But insurance is too high, and the PCX can do 99% of what the cruiser can. :P
