I would guess it is for the lights on the top box.

Why do it that way? There is an outline of a hole on the bottom of the Givi box the lines up with the outline of a hole on the underside of the Givi plate. I drilled out the holes and used a multi wire quick disconnect for the wires. Then I connected everything under the rack in a protected junction box so that I can disconnect the whole thing easily, from just the top box, to disconnecting everything so that the bike can be taken apart. I also have lights on the rack plate, which I also connected to the junction box.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

Thanks Mel - I had it installed at the dealer. I thought that was how he was going to do it. Givi makes a light kit for that box, but it is only a tiny light above the handle. It is designed to be quick-connect tho. The Admore kit is designed for that box, but the directions say to drill instead of using that hole - not sure why. Looks like the dealer just followed the instructions in the kit. It is still easy to disconnect, wire tucks under the seat, and all wires are up out of the way under the lid.

I am not electronically inclined, but perhaps others would like to see pics of your setup.

Here are a few pictures of our light setup. It is probably not fair that I was an aircraft electrician in the military and a computer engineer after that, so this is sort of a hobby for me.

First I needed to determine what wires went where and had to get a terminal block.

Here is the protected junction box and theadditional lights on the tailrack.
