Givi top cases

Post by outlander »

Can I mount a givi e45 monokey to a pcx? Will it work with a givi rack?

What is the cheapest option out there for a top case?

Probably You can. But it's BIG... Cheaper option would be smaller Givi case. E30 perhaps ?

The choice of a top cape, basically, has to do with your preferences.
Do you need to carry one or two helmets ?
Do you have plans for ... touring ? Then you need the biggest you can affort.
But always have in your mind ..., the overall balance of the bike.
Don't forgret that the extra weight of a (loaded) top case is at the rear and OUT of your bike, which is .. hmmm .. dangerous (if it's overloaded) !
So, think wise when you choose !
It may help you to know...,
that i have mounted a GIVI TRK52N (52 LTRS ).
BUT ...
this 'special' choise was made under 3 rules.
1. To repeal the space under the seat,
2. To repeal the second's person seat and..
3. To mount it just OVER the points that the rack normally is screwed, so the extra weigth is 'IN' the bike (part of it) and not out of it.

So i didn't use a rear rack but i handmade a custom one, whitch made the whole thing behave like a .. rock !
The top case is screwed derectly on the bike, but it can be removed in a minute, unscrewing 4 bolts.

Best deal I've found on a decent quality top case. I bought it myself and have it on the PCX in my garage currently. Easy to mount to the OE Honda accessory rack which you can find on Amazon for around $30-ish.

How does that honda rack mount to the givi case?

My reasoning for the e45 is that I have 3 of them on my buell,so id like to be able to swap it out.

Three of them? How did you mount 3 of them on it?? Yes, you can put an E45 on your pcx. However, consider how big it will look and how much wind drag you will have. Imagine going down the road with a head wind. How much more fuel will you need to go the same speed you would with the smaller case? I had a E45 on my Burgman 400, but when i tried it on our pcx it looked really big, and had a lot of wind drag. Also, if i loaded it up like i did when it was on the Burgman, the pcx would feel really out of balance.
