You can get the performance you want without issue. You just need to make a few small changes.

One of the issues we still have is seat height, which is another reason for our looking at the Burgman 200. She really loves her PCX, especially the red, but she has 3 problems I am trying to solve. One of those was seat height, which has been solved by getting her boots with 3 inch soles. The 2nd problem is top end. That is why I am thinking about the variator. The last problem is wind hitting her from where the sides have a funnel effect in 2 spots. I think I have solved one of them. I will work on the lower ones (where the footboard tilts up) next. The Burgman 200 solves all of these problems, but I don't know that I want to take a big loss on her PCX. I would also have to buy a tailbox and tail rack for it since the one on the PCX won't work on it. More money, but I am trying to keep her happy, and keep her interested in riding.

What screen does she use? My biondi protects me even in 20mph cross winds I just have to lean ever so slightly.

Also takegawa makes 30mm shorter shocks available with red coils and silver coils and can be shipped to your door for $150 that lowers her seat height by roughly 1.1"

Do you want to do 70mph or 75mph? Is 60mph up hill acceptable or do you feel the need for 65-70 up hill? I can give you several combos but it depends what you want. It starts around $150 and tops $550

I got new weights today. I will test them later. First I will try sliders in the stock variator with the torque driver and test top speed. There could be something there as a cheap 70+ mph setup as opposed to swapping variators.

Its a lot easier to swap a variator for more speed than a torque driver for most guys on here and about same costs anyway...;)

I thought SB perhaps stood for "standard belt" because you also get a "premium" version of powerlink belts.

Powerlink belts are used in industrial applications also. Not just scooters.

Another example of a powerlink belt is for a 49cc qmb139a. The standard belt is PL20507 and the premium belt is PL30507.

There is no listing by gates for the part number. Not even in their own interchange.

Again the yuminashi gates belt is the exact same size as the stock belt and from testing provides no performance benefit over any other reinforced belt.

If you want to try swapping the belt and vario out, it's not difficult to do, and I have all the tools to do the swap. The vario swap takes under 30 mins. I'll agree with you maddiedog. I'm just not sold that a burgman 200 with the same torq as the pcx and a top speed of 75 WILL cruise up hills at 70. Take a good test ride and let us know.

If I put those lower shocks on her bike will it lower the bike itself any? I am saying this because I notice that the center stand is mighty close to the ground already, so I don't want it any lower or it would hit when we hit pot holes. As for top end, she just wants to be sure she can hit a true 75 - 75 mph on a freeway for a short distance. We get on the freeway for one or two exits and she is pushing the bike to keep fro. Being run over. If we can merge into traffic and stay with them till her exit, she would be happy. I am thinking that the Yuminashi variator and a reenforced belt would do the trick. I will have to look into the shock suggestion. You wouldn't happen to have a link, would you?

If you lower both front and rear of the bike your lady could touch the ground easier. Now maybe even a simpler solution is to remove some foam from the seat. This would lower the rider just slightly. Also when lowering the bike you should have no issues with the center stand hitting or dragging in turns.

Mel already has her on an aftermarket seat that lowers her some.

Mel, I'm fairly sure she'd be able to drop an inch or so by replacing the rear suspension. The reinforced belt isn't necessary in my opinion. I have no problem with my stock belt, I still pull 65+mph on it just fine.

You guys know what nukes belts right?? Heat. I also think most aftermarket belts are a little overrated. I took the cvt case off over the weekend to inspect the belt and the drive-line parts. Through my inspection I found out there isn't much air flow through the stock CVT case. I would have thought Honda would have put more thought into this but they didn't.

The simple fix i came up with is to just remove the plastic vent on the front of the cvt where the variator is. This will improve intake flow, but however i need to know if I can open the rear cvt area of the case. I see the rear of the cvt has a bearing which could possibly be some kind of load bearing for the drive axle, which is on the clutch side of things.

Also do note when you remove the plastic cover it's no possible to remove the CVT cover without taking off the plastic fairings.

Mel46...I have a NCY variator and use the OEM Honda rollers in it. With a new OEM belt I'm seeing an indicated 79mph top speed on the speedo. 75mph is a tall order for this bike (on a flat out in open air) as it takes a lot of power to push through the wind at that speed. Obviously, heavy traffic (draft effect), no incline, and a tailwind all help in achieving this goal, as does tucking down. If your lady is of the smaller variety, (sub 130lbs or so) she may do ok. If not, a larger engine like the Burgman 200 will be needed.

If you want to keep a higher top speed, you'll need to change belts more often.

Aren't you concerned about water intrusion? I ride in the rain all the time -- I could certainly see water getting in there easily.
