PCX150 - Vario150 Belt Swap

Post by clemence »

Hi Guys,

I just replaced my rollers with DP sliders. In the process I took some pictures that might benefits older PCX150.
Especially the cogged belt. The AHM [Astra Honda Motor] claim it to be more reliable and flexible in the long run while improving fuel economy [as per their press release in my country]. If anyone interested I could manage a group buy. But try to get it through your local dealer first.

Don't worry the picture links are now PORN FREE!

Artsy start...

The measurement is: 22,1mm [1766,2km light uses]

The number/letter-ing is: 23100-K36-J010-M1 HONDA BANDO

That is the same number for the "new" PCX 150 (G) or LED belt (23100-K36-J01) so it is double toothed as well? At 22.1mm it the same width as the 2103 model.

So sounds like the 23100-K36-J01 is the way to go for all.

I don't know, I don't own any PCX. I can't answer that for you. Anyone?
The price is relatively cheap, less than USD20 the last time I checked. Will do the research if it's needed

Then I'm the one who should order from you ;) . I checked it again and... It's IDR 300-350.000/pcs or USD 23-27/pcs depends on the discount given by the merchants. Official price list: http://astra-honda.com/index.php/downlo ... /2178/235/

Nice work boys... but I have no cogged belt on my 2015 PCX150 to my recollection. I would sure like to purchase and compare the measurements and performance changes. Hook us up with a link to a US seller. I'm going to benchmark acceleration and top speed this morning in preparation WOOT! love this stuff!

None of those belt links show a cogged belt, so does that mean we would have to order it from only one place?

This ebay seller was prompt and agreed to separate the NEW cogged belt and list it for 38.99
I think this is the best we can hope for and I ordered. We do some research on how it performs :)

Good luck, I hope this new belt would benefit older PCX. Took years before Honda finally implements this technology. I first saw cogged belt for snowmobile performance upgrade about four years ago. More flexible belt means less unwanted friction & heat thus longer life and less belt slippage. Do you think this belt could benefit from less belt (contra spring) tension?

I thank you for the thread sir, I had no idea these were available for PCX. We move forward and learn more than expected in our little forum worlds. I will leave the contra spring question to upper echelon mechanics. The new experience for me will be getting the belt over the clutch which might require removal... I'll have to get out the SM 8)

You're welcome.
If you want it fast then get an impact driver plus 22mm & deep 19 mm socket wrench. I only use conventional strap wrench when I have to do it at night to avoid noise. A nylon cable tie is very helpful when installing back the driven (rear) pulley. It squeezes the belt so you have enough slack to tighten the variator without pinching the belt.

I think I read on this forum somewhere that the belt for the new pcx will not work on the 2013 and below. If that is true, then I guess there are no cogged belts for the older models?

Why will it not work? First we have to find out how long it is. Yuminashi use the old PCX 125 belt with their kit and it is shorter. If new belt is slightly longer then maybe. But until then the glass is half full...
The AHM [Astra Honda Motor] claim it to be more reliable and flexible in the long run while improving fuel economy [as per their press release in my country].
Clemence does the press release mention all 150's?
