If you come across a family of turkeys while out riding give them a chance to move out of the way. . .. Evidently the parents communicate danger to the kids quite effectively.

I can't EVER get that close to wild turkeys! They see me coming a mile away... must be a liberal thing.
Whatever, they taste better from the supermarket anyway.

I eat turkey for Thanksgiving. . ..

Just hate to see the ones of the wild get knocked down senselessly if it can be avoided.

Impressive. But, I didn't see any threat either.
Tom the gobbler meander's about the area,
whilst Mama Jenny tells her flock to high tail it into the weeds (cute part).

Yup. . .!

One time, last Spring, out for a ride on my PCX, I spotted a bunch of "little ones" with Mom getting ready to cross my path from a side street and so I immediately went into adrenaline mode, checked my mirrors, checked the oncoming lane again, had both hands on the brakes and already braking hard, looked for escape routes, and prepared to ride through what was essentially a bunch of bowling pins and I was the ball.

That said, and it must have been on the Mom's command, they suddenly reversed themselves like a school of fish (all seem to move at the same time in the same direction), and all became well in the world in just a few seconds.

Wow. . .in all the years of riding dealing with dogs, cats, coons, possums, squirrels, bees, deer, moose, chipmunks, coyotes, coywolves, bats, rabbits, and anything else I forgot (don't remember having a close call with a skunk . . . knock on wood) that adventure was a real learning experience. I was only doing about 35 MPH but it all happened so fast.

It just reaffirmed the importance of defensive riding . . . always be observant of something that looks wrong with the picture. . .something that shouldn't be there. Adjust and adapt just in case.

Knowledge is power. . .it builds character.
