New 2018 PCX owner. Few questions.

Post by Inoplanetyanin »

Hello, this is my first post here.
About 3 weeks ago I bought a 2018 Honda PCX 150 in white with only 120 miles on it. Bought it in Arizona and trailered back to LA.

Few questions:1) Has anyone installed a 90/90/-14 front OEM sized tire on the rear wheel? Would it even mount? I am considering this as an emergency measure to get home should the rear tire completely fail and I have a new front tire.

2) Any links on workable hand guards? I want to block the wind for winter riding.
3) Any links for metal rear rack? I may or may not look into getting a top case but for now I want to see if I can find a sturdy metal rack that I can tie luggage to.
4) How much are the air filters? Are they really only 5-6$? My Elite 110 oem fiter costs 20-30$.

Few pics. :)

Nice purchace. Filters are cheap and - really - the best way to see options for racks, boxes and hand guards may be to first do some forum searches and then see what specific questions you might have. There was a discussion on hand guards within the last few days.

Baby scoot and "Big Daddy" is a great pic! Welcome aboard.

Rear rack is easy. Search on this board is pretty lame, but google has it pretty well indexed. Somebody just posted some pics of adding a rack to a newer scoot a few days ago. More useful was a link to a you tube. Check second post in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8868

Handguards? Not judging here, but how cold does it get in LA?
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

but please, don't delete anybody, no matter how badly they deserve deleting :)

Thank you. I've seen the video and know how to install it, I just wonder if there are any other options readily available to order to us in the US when it comes to metal rack other than honda's oem part.

I ride scooters all over south west. It's quite cold in the high desert.

many generic hand guards on amazon/ebay will fit I believe. ex. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Pair-Univers ... :rk:4:pf:0

Yes, PCX oem filters are cheap.

link for the rack https://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Acces ... +rear+rack

no idea about the 90/90 as a rear tire. temporarily maybe okay..
Everything looks better from the inside of a motorcycle helmet...

Thanks for the links. The handguards seem like they may work but I would really like to have someone try it and see the pictures on a pcx before I order them.
I'll keep looking.
Any recommendations for the white reflective rim tape?

Sorry, but I have no idea what you just typed. Perhaps, you should try to use punctuation, like commas and periods. Making shorter sentences might help too. :)

I've had them fitted to my PCX for years, as have others and I am sure if you search google > images you will find pics. They stop a lot of the wind but you still need decent winter gloves. There is an enhancement for these on aliexpress that adds to the top coverage - comes much further over the hands but costs a bit more than the hand guards themselves. I posted links some weeks ago - a seach will find it.

If I didn't have my Termoscud Pro installed, I would purchase these https://www.bikersbuyit.com/pdf/puig-9652-n.pdf handguards.

Enjoy your new PCX!

That said I am a bit confused how this can be your first posting here when you've been a "New Member" since 2012 and have 45 posts so far. . .. :?

Maybe this has just been your first post in a long while perhaps?

Call me crazy. . ..

You are right, I've been lurking on the forum for a long time but this is my first post a righteous PCX owner :)

And it's been a long time since I last posted, and obviously those other posts were unrelated to my having the PCX so I didn't count them neither really remembered that I even had those posts.

Anyway, thank you, and it's great to be a fun of this community!

BMW is a Los Angeles County Sheriff Department bike.
It gives speeding tickets to bikes like PCX and then eats them for lunch. :D

That's an awesome chase.

Here is a similar old-school one from Electra Glide in Blue (great movie if you haven't watched it).
