insurance higher then my more powerfull piaggio

Post by accyuklad »

I use to own a 2009 Piaggio Carnaby 125 and it was fast 70mph easily only reason I got rid I got fed up with electric fixing

since I changed to a pcx and now my renew is up its £16 a month but that's because I lowered the mileage to 5000 from 12000 but when I had Piaggio I paid £10 for 12000 miles a year

I would of thought less power more cheaper but it seems more power more cheaper lol

well next year going to get a motorbike as that be £20 I rather pay that then a scooter

No point trying to understand insurance, it makes no sense at all.

It makes all sorts of sense. The more the drivers/riders in your area crash or get their bikes stolen, the higher YOUR insurance. Somebody has to pay for the bad drivers and high theft rate.

In our area we have a lot of high class cars. Many of those drivers have so much money that they dont care if they run a few lights and crash a few times, just as long as most of the time they can get to their work first. Therefore my rates have skyrocketed, and I haven't had any accidents or tickets. It is a numbers game to the insurance companies.

Multi- bike discount. They will get it back eventually. We got a discount for multi- bike but watched it slowly creep up over time, even though our amount of riding went down. At one point in time we swapped insurance companies but it went up the next year anyway so we swapped back.

I noticed my rate crept up a bit this year also when I added the XMax to my policy but it's still pretty good.

I'll have to take another look at my policy coverage on the next renewal to see if I should make any changes. :|

My Piaggio 250 Evo has a factory fitted immobiliser which makes it unuseable if stolen.
The PCX however is a very popular scooter with the scrotes, and is highly nickable! o_O

Insurance companies use marketing schemes to entice you to sign up by giving you an attractive first year price, then next or subsequent years they increase.Play the game back and keep changing insurance companies.

And then ring them back and say what can you do..

Renewal quote £160
Confusethemeerkats £120
Phone insurer, revised renewal £120

I do it every time the renewal goes up.

Also watch for them sneakily increasing the excess at renewal time.

Hopefully somebody is using an actuarial table!?
Your age, marital status, your neighborhood, type of residence, specific scooter - and how often do they crash these things?

People who can buy big scoots probably crash 'em less often than blokes like you crash little ones!
There's a happy thought.
