Replacement seat for the PCX

Post by ozzy7007 »

I would like to order a replacement seat from Taiwan, the hump is in my way, just wanted to know if they remove that nasty hump of plastic where the backrest bolts into before they redo the foam, as that hard piece of plastic will still be in my way even if it was covered, would be nice if it where removed completely before the redo the upholster ..Will appreciate any and all responds, Regards, Ozzy from Ohio,USA

There are plenty of threads, posts and pics here on removing the seat hump or getting a local upholsterer to do it. You get the plastic hump cut out too.

I had my original seat redone. See the "seat uncovered" thread to see pictures.

Mine cost $100 done by our local marine (boat seat) upholsterer. Here is the plastic bit that needs to be cut out:

and recovered in waterproof marine grade vinyl:

Has anyone tried to move the hump back some? I'm thinking even an inch or so might make a difference.

Of course the hump would need to be stripped in order to move the studs.

Or shave the front of the hump back some?

I've noticed some discomfort on longer rides. The ability to stretch ones legs would be a great benefit.

I must be the only one that likes the bump. :-) keeps me from slouching too much but I am not exactly tall tall either.

Same here. I'm 6'2. I'm gonna post a write-up of my new hump-less seat in a few minutes.

I'm 6'1" and the hump has never bothered me, even on 200+ mile rides. But then, everybody bitches about the factory seat on my Triumph T100, and I think that's about as comfortable as it can get!
