I have cable for internet service only. I get phone service and watch TV through the innerwebs. Cable TV is a scam.

We use Comcast for our internet right now but found out that if we have the basic TV package with it, it is cheaper than internet only. Makes no sense but that was their offer. The cable bill kept climbing every month when we had cable for everything. Then DirectV came along and promised to cut our bill in half. Well, we switched most of our TV viewing to DirectV. Now they are doing exactly what Comcast was doing, so as soon as this contract is up, they are gone. I can't believe that every month we have to call them and they tell us some bullsh#t story about how that package is no longer offered and we much move to the next plan up the list! How can a plan be in place for only 1 month each month?! From what I have read here, I think we may end up just doing internet and Boxee. I have a Home Theater PC with Boxee on it that I use in my office. I can just move it to the living room.

Because you pay HEAVILY for the service, and get marketed to very frequently anyways. If I'm paying for TV, I shouldn't have to watch stupid commercials. I have no patience for it.

That's not a scam. More a service that you shouldn't buy as it isn't appropriate for you
