moped/scooter/motorbike ?

Post by Scottish »

what does one call a PCX ? I hate calling it a scooter or god forbid a moped, it just conjurs up images like this

Image

I dont feel comfortable saying its a motorbike either as I'd probably be seen as a liar even if it was technically correct!
So what do we call our beloved PCX's ?!!

In the UK a "moped" is anything two wheeled with a 50cc motor.
The PCX is a scooter.
A scooter is a type of motorcycle.
So call it what you like.

Scooter or bike, whatever slips out. Not a puzzlement. All work ;)

I call it a bike
If someone wants particulars, I'll 'splain it.

Back in the olden days, "moped" indicated it had pedals.

I call it a scooter, because who really gives a fuck? You don't call a Geo Metro a tin can because its an embarassing four wheeled vehicle, you still call it a car.

One thing it is not....."Likker Sikle". A term used around here to identify 50cc mopeds that do not require insurance, tag or driver's license. Most often ridden by drunks who have lost their operator permit.

I just say bike, if they ask what type, i say scooter because thats what it is.

Not really embarassing, its a bike for commuting, most of us have full license so we're not on it because we're restricted lol.

The State of Delaware has declared my PCX a motorcycle and registered it as such.

When I took it through the inspection lanes at the DMV, I told the technician that I wanted to register my new scooter. He told me the PCX is NOT a scooter it is a motorcycle due to the horsepower rating. If I heard him correctly, he said anything with more than 5.7 horsepower is a motorcycle in Delaware. How do Governments come up with this stuff?

to me it is a type of motorcycle known as a scooter because it is a semi step through and has an automatic transmission. it is a very cool, stylish and practical scooter to boot!
