2011 PCX 125 top speed?

Post by strkngfang »

I apologize if this has already been asked, I only saw the 150 model mentioned. I was wondering where the speed limiter is set to on this bike. I only weigh 145 lbs. so I should have no problem hitting the mark. I'm still breaking it in (470 mi so far), which brings me to the second question. Is there a noticeable speed difference after the 600 mi service is done? On my past Elite 110 & SH150i, there was a big power gain after the first service. I have been keeping the speeds to around 40-45 mostly & not running WOT.

PCX 125 is limited to 62.5mph
The 150 isn't much faster.
No difference after the first service.
Gets slower with age losing as much as 10% of top speed.
But you get it back when you renew the belt.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

Thanks. I hear the 150 gains about 8 mph over the
125. I'll check it out after my wife's is broken in.

That would be about right. I have had my 150 to 72 mph on a flat road with little wind. I weigh 186 lbs.

Yep, "roughly 62 mph for the 125 and 72 mph for the 150"......there is a world of difference in the maintained MPH of the two PCXs though. Having put over 10,000 miles on a 125, I was extremely used to speeds it could achieve and sustain on my Favorite Roads. The 150 easily crests hills at 60+ mph that pulled the 125 down into the 40 to 45 mph range. Rarely ever thought about speeding tickets on most roads while on the 125....better be extremely aware of it on the 150...!!!...There is an extremely noticeable difference in the two Scooters..... ;) 8)

Did you find the torque different between the 125 and 150? I have been told that the 150 has better acceleration then the 125 had.

skuuter probably will have a better insight, but since I'm riding both my wife's 150 & my 125 daily, to break them in, I can tell a huge difference in torque. The 150 will reach a desired speed much faster than the 125, I like the "throatier" exhaust sound of the 150 as well. Still loving my 125, it's definitely no slouch, but when Honda improves on a design, they definitely do.

Yep, the PCX150 leaves the PCX125 on take off, top speed, and my main plus....carries sustained speeds a lot better. Much more Torque through the entire RPM range. Factor in basically the same overall weight, and Honda has another WINNER..... ;)

I can't compare the two as I have never ridden the 125. Prior to this I had a EuroSport 150. It did fine, but in heavy wind it would start to struggle in maintaining speed. It was somewhat gutless from a standstill too. Before that I had a 2004 Zuma. I modified this bike heavilly. The bike had a racing clutch with the hardest clutch spring, Polini variator, Athena 70 cc kit with the Technigas Next R series pipe. It took a bit to tune it but after settling on a 92 main jet and tinkering with the air box I had a screamer on my hands. Up steep inclines I could easily reach 60 mph and topped at 67. I had performance tires on it and a racing cdi.

The PCX does not compare to that zuma, then again what 2 stroke compares well to a 4 stroke? The zuma was constantly needing tuning and work, and after a few years of it I got tired and sold it. The PCX is perfect for me as I dont plan on Interstate driving but some hiway driving. I can go anywhere in town and keep up (most the time cars need to keep up with me) with traffic. Its smooth, rides a ton better then any of the other bikes I have ridden and looks killer.

I took my 125 out on a flat stretch of a divided 4 lane highway today to see what the real time top speed was? The previous posters were right on the money, she quit rising between 60 & 63 mph. I went both directions with the same results. It sure feels faster than that, but you are on a sub 300 lb machine. I still felt stable though.

I weight 225 and can reach about 64-65 easily. Which I have noticed a gain after first service, but I don't get how a simple oil change would cause I difference. I will do the valve adjustment eventually. I'm an engineering student so I trust myself over maintenance than a mechanic I don't even know. Which I gotta honestly say that that 60mph I ride at a lot is speeding where I ride, which is in city limits. I do go outta city limits sometimes but too many hills down here.

I am a new owner of a PCX150 (just only 90km!)...I can't say a lot of things but I read the Certificate of Conformity issued by Manufacturer and it say that speed is limited at 101km/h. I guess
isthe same for PX125. So only you can get more of versus 125 is a better acceleration.

I hope I am wrong, because I will be happier with what other people wrote, about the speeds over 100-115km/h. I will see when I will reach 1500 km, now I will not push to the maximum speed.
Currently own: 2013 Honda PCX150 red, 2008 Suzuki Burgman 400 red.

"Sustained Speed" in my opinion, is the biggest plus of the PCX150 over the PCX125. Yes, it has some more Top Speed, yes, it has much more take off..."but"...The PCX150 will carry You to the top of long climbs or mountains with very little drop in speed.I can climb Monteagle Mountain here at 50-60 MPH to the top rolling out of the throttle entering corners, and re-throttling coming out. If I rode my PCX125 there it ran in the 40-45 MPH range holding a pegged throttle to the top...!!!

Since my Wife and I take fairly long weekend Trips, this is a real plus in arriving at Destinations. I can make "close" to the same average time on the PCX150 on Trips that I have on Full Size Motorcycles. With the PCX125, You had to allow quite a bit more time to get somewhere, especially in Mountain Areas where we tend to ride the most often..... 8)

Skuuter- I'm anxious for your full report on the Forza, when do you expect to have them?
Just curious, what have your top speeds been on both the 125s & the 150s???

I had my wife's 150 out on a smooth straight flat stretch of 55 mph road and it reached 66 mph with no effort at all. Hers is still in the break in period, with just over 400 miles, so I didn't WOT but you could definitely feel there was a lot left to give, especially with my lightweight aboard. Mine pretty much flattens out once it reaches 60, I kind of figured with my sub 150 lb. body that I could get closer to 65? Still no complaints, I just assumed with a lot heavier riders achieving the same speeds, that I would get a little more??

I agree with Skuuter, the sustained speed is really key. I have a hill thats pretty steep I climb every day on my way to work. The speed limit is 40 mph, however no one drives 40. It seems like a race to the top every day. This morning I went into the hill at 45 and half way up opened it up to 55 with no hesitation. Instead of maintaining, it accellerates. I can relate to Skuuters issues with hills and having to run wide open to just try to compete with traffic. Its a safety concern. I have only 300 miles on my bike and have had it for a little over 2 weeks but I am thoroughly enjoying every minute of it.
