What topbox do you have

Post by txwomyn »

I want to install a topbox for extra storage when going to the gym.
What box do you have?
What are the pro and cons of your box.
And do you wish you bought a different box and if so why?

Thanks for your input

I have a Givi E340 Vision (34 litre) on mine with the obligatory mount and plate kit.
Mine was dealer fitted at the right price to keep me happy.
it tastes like...Eagle!

How much can you fit in your topbox?
Will a small gym bag fit.
I have other stuff under my seat like a cover to keep people off of the scooter when I am out of site.

I've got the 26ltr Honda box. I can fit a box of 12 cans of lager in mine :) This might help you judge the size you need.

Do you know if the 34 litre box will fit on the Honda 26 litre mounting plate? I get the feeling that the Honda top boxes are just rebranded Givi and all made at the same factory.

Your right, they are. I think I remember maddiedog confirming that. If I was to ever get one (which I won't) I think I'd just get the biggest possible one. Bike will end up looking the same with it no matter what size you get, so may aswell get the most functional one.

All boxes should fit on the mount plate, but just make sure you don't overload the weight limit of the box. If you overload it, you'll break it or your bike. :(

I'm thinking of getting this topbox. I'm also guessing the mounting kit it comes with will not do the job, you need to get the rear carrier to go with it?

You very definitely do not want the Honda carrier in that second link.
Givi boxes come with a universal mounting plate but for the PCX you also need the Givi E231 adapter which is £27.
I just ordered a Givi E300B because I need more storage at my new job.
If you order both from Motorcycle Planet delivery is free. ;)

Absolutely, I still utterly despise them, problem is I need storage when parked at my new job and there isn't a set of panniers available for the PCX so it has to be a topbox.
Or I suppose I could just buy something with a cavern under the seat like a Silverwing.....

I have now placed a order for the GIVI E370 topbox with the rear plate kit, but also added the GIVI E108 Stop Light Kit which the E370 supports. Sounds like I'm going to have some fun fitting this xD

If you are fitting the stop light kit may i suggest you fit extra leds underneath the red reflectors either side as it works a treat.Ive done this on mine and there is no way you could miss my brake lights now.I used some cheap led self adhesive strips and just connected to the original wires in the stop light kit so now the whole top box lights up when i brake.

Panniers??? Someone say they would like panniers??? o_O o_O

How about these? Oxford Firsts, not that expensive. Throw overs, where the webbing straps go under the seat. Had mine for about 3 months now - take all my tidy clobber for work, lunch etc...............even had a week's worth of laundry for 2 in them up to my parents to use their washing machine

Wouldnt be without them now...........

Topbox??? Nah..........makes the bike too unstable and looks too damn ungainly :x :x
