PCX -- The Attraction

It's interesting to see how different folks find different attractions to this Honda scooter.

I've seen folks describe the PCX as:
-- a first timer's introduction to motor bikes
-- simple, affordable transport
-- an attractive "sport scooter" for jaunts on country roads
-- an unintimidating way for motorcyclists from years ago to re-enter the game
-- a gas miser's delight for errands and short commutes
-- fun his-and-hers scooters
-- compact carry-along vehicle for folks in motor homes

For me, there's something really fun about a motor vehicle you can totally wring out on public streets without breaking laws.
I'm amazed a 150cc motor can do this much!
It's a nifty little adventure.

Yes, many things for many people. That's what Honda wanted for a world-wide model.

Yeah I'm new to motor cycles and it's perfect for me, great on gas and fun to commute to work on plus it's stylish I get quite a few compliments on it

The most interesting thing of all to me is the fact that even though it is a little scooter, it can keep up with the 'big boys' nicely. This makes it ideal for women who are normally intimidated by the big, loud, 'grown-up' bikes. My wife's full exposure to motorcycles had been when she was in her late teens to early 20's' , and at that time she rode small dirt bikes. She had never ridden on public streets on them. She fell in love with the little PCX 150 as soon as she saw it. We bought it even though she did not know how to ride it. After some false starts and a few drops, she was having a ball on it! After we added some upgrades to make her more comfortable on it, such as a bigger windscreen, she wanted to ride all the time! We took longer and longer day trips on it, and now she is quite comfortable riding with the 'big boys' on freeways and curving mountain roads. It is probably the best medicine we could have purchased for the 'retirement slowdown'.

I'm old to motorcycles.

I used to think anything smaller than 1,000cc was a "little bike." I guess I've gotten over that.

After 45 years and 25 motorcycles, over 250,000 miles of two wheel riding, the PCX makes me smile... OK, sometimes it makes me laugh out loud. I came to the conclusion that this little scooter was enough for me. I can see why some folks need Interstate capable machines... I look for ways to go that don't include over 55 mph segments.

I just spent 3 1/2 months on an island where the highest speed limit is 45 mph - the PCX would be PERFECT there!

Argh I hate this forum!

I don't get mine till the end of the month and it just seems to be getting further away than closer

But after (literaly) years of looking, excuses and justifications I have firmly decided that even coming back to bikes ( I only rode 70cc -125cc scoots in my 20's) This is all I will ever need. The price is right. The capability is right.

And it looks damm good. Even my anti-cycle Mum likes the look of it. Not that she can talk. Dad says she rode like a woman posessed in the 60's while pregnant with me!

Mine is a real (pussy) fanny magnet, the girls I know in Udon Thani love it.

I also suffered from the mine is bigger than yours complex, regarding motorcycles.

I've never owned a motorcycle. I wanted to purchase a scooter and went to the one and only dealer in town. They carried Honda and Yamaha and, when I saw the PCX it just looked like what I wanted. I've got to say that riding it does make you smile.

It does make ya smile. Can't wait to get mine. Haven't rode one since I left Taiwan for the states.

Here it is: Its bigger its more comfortable its got better equipment it goes further on a tank its faster it costs more.

The PCX will see you alright.
I was a bit sad to see mine go tbh, it provided good loyal service these past three years, never once let me down and was always eager to please, like an exuberant little puppy.

I love my 150. First scooter ever, even though I took the MSF course and conceivably could have gotten a motorcycle with much more power. But the PCX is a really nimble machine, perfect for my non-highway escapades, great gas mileage (though the fill-ups are frequent), and a look that doesn't scream cheap Vespa knockoff. It has absolutely whet my appetite for something bigger down the road - hello, Forza! - but as an entry into scooterville, it showed me that I can have a blast riding something, and feel safer knowing I'm not worried about *too* much power, braking with a foot, and remembering to downshift all the way at a light. The MSF course was great, but there nothing better than one throttle and two hands on brakes!
