New Brake Levers? Be Careful!

Post by tomtic »

Hi. Just a quick word of warning if you intend replacing your standard brake levers with adjustable ones from ebay. This seller

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A-Pair-CNC-Br ... 53fd237711

has sent me the wrong left lever, and has failed to respond to emails.
The right lever fitted perfectly and I am disappointed that the other didn't fit. This is the left lever he sent

I managed to get a refund through ebay, but just a 'heads up' that they may have run out of the correct PCX fittings.
I've notice that this seller has what looks like two entries for the same product on ebay, at different prices (both cheaper than what I paid!!!).

Tom.

That is exactly why I bought ours thru amazon.com. They have a protection plan, plus the seller is rated, which makes it easy to see if they are honest.

Do you know if these would work on the Forza?

The Forza is so new that I doubt anyone has made ones specifically for it. The place to check when you aren't sure if they have been made yet would be powerbyforza.com, which is a spinoff of powerbypcx. They are usually the quickest to make accessories for the PCX, so I would expect the same for the Forza. Where is the Forza made? The PCX is made there in Thailand.

I got mine today, thankfully they were correct, just a little loose so had to make my own Washers!

Those are the ones I have as well. They work great. I thought I ordered them from Amazon but I must have ordered them from Ebay.

I am pretty sure that Powerbypcx doesn't make much, if anything, they sell. I believe they are primarily, if not exclusively, a retail outlet.

Tomtic,

What bike/year do you have? How exactly didn't it fit? How long did he fail to respond? Maybe he is on holiday?

So if I understand this correctly instead of returning the lever, you got a refund from Ebay so now the seller is out the refund and you still have the item.

Every story has two sides.

If I purchase something on eBay or elsewhere and the seller won't communicate, necessitating me to go through PayPal to get a refund, I typically won't send the item back either.

One of the more humorous things that happened to me was purchasing a Skype phone when I was getting ready to move to Thailand. I ordered a base unit and one extra handset but they shipped two extra handsets. I tried for a month to get hold of the seller to make sure I would be refunded for the cost of sending the one extra until back but they didn't respond. About 10 weeks later I got an e-mail stating that their records indicated that they had accidentally sent me the extra unit and I could ship it back to them at their cost, or if I preferred, I could "find it a new home" and don't worry about sending it back .... I found it a new home because that was easier.

I have had many good experiences with ebay, and one bad one. As it turned out this individual had screwed over a very large number of people by taking their money and either not sending them the item, or sending them a unit that did not work. I had an ebay account and a paypal account, so my money was garrantied. Others were probably not so lucky. So, when you have a bad experience on ebay remember that ebay itself doesn't want that kind of seller. They will do whatever they can to correct the problem. They even have some kind of committee to help you if the seller doesn't respond. Use them if you feel that you aren't getting a reply from the seller.

What case is that you have in the middle? does it fit perfectly in the gap?
I hate the gap on the bar so was going to buy the middle bar and put a cushion/pad on it just to fill the space,
but I always keep my iPhone in the 'glovebox' but I like how your cover looks like it fits nicely...

Are people fitting these to make it easier to grab and quicker to get a biting point?

Maybe. I got mine because I think They look nice

I've never really had any real problems with any factory controls on any bike.
