Hi all,

Poor student with a pcx looking to service everything myself, I have gone through the 'owners manual' and done the following is there anything else I should do...

At about 9000miles btw,


Done:
Oil change
Front and rear brake pad checked
Tyre pressure checked
Brake fluid levels checked
All lights working fine
Suspension checked


Should I?:
Change coolant
Change brake fluids
Replace spark plug

The owners manual says the spark plug should be replaced at that point and many other things checked and fixed if needed. Do you have the owners manual, if not you can download the pdf from the net.

At least do the spark plug. They are cheap enough. I think about £5 ish.

How much coolant is required to perform a flush,

I assume the procedure is to drain all out, then fill up to mark, start engine and run, then top up?

Should I go for a 1l bottle? Is this enough for my requirements?

The capacity it approx 700ml. If the coolant is premixed then 1 litre is fine. Some coolant needs mixed 50/50 with water so best to check when you buy it.

Your coolant is likely still good. It relies more on age than miles. The procedure is simple enough -- there is a drain bolt at the bottom of the radiator. Fill from the cap at the top of the radiator, then idle the engine, then top off... Repeat until it won't take more, and then fill the tank in the back of the underseat bin. If you get a engine hot light, you have air in your coolant and need to take the cap off the top of the radiator (WHEN IT'S COLD) and let the air out.
