My quiet response was "I wonder if he could come talk to my wife"? I really wanted to get a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 but she just does not like the idea of me having a motorcycle. Scooter was a much easier sell. I'm still hoping she gets comfortable with this and my long term plan is to get her to like the scooter and want it for herself, then I get the Royal Enfield and we can ride together. She hasn't tried it yet and she's scared because of an incident when she was young trying a boyfriend's motorcycle, dumping the clutch and the resulting crash. She just doesn't know how easy a scooter is yet, but I'm going to get her to try it in a parking lot.
I just bought a Shoei J-Cruise. Expensive 3/4 Helmet, but what a nice helmet!
This is the only helmet I will where in Summer. When it's cool I use a Nolan N104 full face.

I tried once again fitting both of my helmets under the 2015 PCX seat and a friends flip style lid, but sadly there is no way they will fit, and I was wrong saying previously there was about 1cm less height than needed as it's more than an inch. The width is not the problem (such as wider flip lids) even with the flip lid as they all fit width wise, it's just the height of all these 'L' helmets is just too high for the seat too close. I'm not convinced they are that much taller than most, but perhaps some makes or ranges of helmets are stretched horizontally and perhaps a few cm's less high and thus fit. The 2015 PCX opens from the rear with the hinge at the front where the helmet can go - am I right in thinking the 2013 models have the hinge at the rear?
No, 2013s have the hinge at the front also, they latch at the rear.
I just ordered an HJC CL-16 Shock in large. I'm really hoping it fits, I've seen other threads saying that it does so I went ahead and ordered it. I just want something for quick errands that I can keep locked away under the seat (and it was very cheap). The Shoei I'll still keep for longer fun rides.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong - there's the raised lump at the base around which the helmet fits, but there seems to be a protusion under the front of the seat that hits the top of the three helmets I've tried. I would imagine even medium in those hemlets (Box, Shox and my mates fancy £100+ helmet) would not be that much smaller - at least not an inch less tall, as when hitting the top of the helmets the rear is about 2 inches free of the latch!
The older models also have a protrusion sticking down from the under seat plastic, kind of a hard foam or styrofoam material of some sort in an oval shape. It's the first thing to hit the helmet.
Got my CL-16 today! Looks much better in person than in pics, fits very snug without being too tight, and is much quieter than my Vega. In the sunlight it nearly glows! My only complaint is that the "Dark Smoke" visor isn't as dark as my Vega's "Smoke". Oh well... $101 well spent!

Glad you like it. You got a better deal then I did. But, I got it in two days. And that was important to me. I think it's a decent helmet, it's my first full face, so I don't have anything to compare it to. It's a size medium and fits nice.
I got a Scorpion EXO-1100 Hi-Vis helmet. I like the black/hi-vis yellow combo, much more appealing than solid yellow.
I am curious though...
Is it worth the extra buck for say, something higher-end like a Shoei or Arai helmet? I would personally expect that, once you get above $250 or so, one helmet won't protect your head significantly better than another. So I'd assume quality and comfort would be the selling point.
My current helmet already has some hairline scratches on the faceshield, which is kind of weird to me since I only wipe it with a microfiber cloth. Kind of wondering if the pricey helmets have better anti-scratch, anti-fog, and better venting. And how important is it to have a stated UV protection? I do remember reading somewhere that wearing shades without proper UV protection can damage your eyes worse than not wearing shades at all.
You might be surprised to learn that money spent is no guarantee of effective protection.
Some very expensive top end helmets are not as good as some at the lowest end of the price range.
The sharp tests are probably as good a guide as any.
When selecting a helmet it is essential to ensure a good fit, an ill fitting five star helmet cannot do its job properly.
Try helmets on in a specialist shop, do not buy blind by mail/internet order.

I'm very happy with my IS-17 HJC , but it may not fit other people.

I was just curious if the more expensive helmets offer anything other than the brand name. In any case, I've sprayed some Plexus on my faceshield and that seems to help keep it clear.
My helmet now was an internet order, which I don't feel is a huge issue if you measure your size properly. Fits like a glove .

Not really, if you choose wisely you'll get all you could ever want/need for half the price of a basic Arai or Shoei.
Can't emphasise enough about getting the correct fit, it can only be done in a shop with a wide range of helmets to try on.
There's a lot more to it than just measuring your size.

Then that would also mean that life insurance is a waste of money as well because you never benefit from it, but you still purchase it. As well, in places where helmets are mandatory, all you need to do is to get caught once without it and you will have paid for the cost of a helmet with the cost of the fine.
