What Accessory or Mod would you like?

Post by Chris S »

For a lot of us this time of year we can't ride our scoot because of the weather, so we ease our pain by looking at mods or new accessories. So what would you like to have or wish would be available? Maybe it will give us some ideas.

Air Hawk Cushion

Post by Chris S »

I'll start.
Looking at maybe an Air Hawk cushion.http://www.airhawk.net/airhawk-r.aspx I suffer from a slight sciatic problem, nothing serious but it can be uncomfortable on occasion with our hard-ish seats. I was looking at a regular size one, not the expensive model (neoprene?) The only problem might be that the weight will prevent the damper from holding the seat open, which could be irritating if your hands are full. Anyone have any experience with this or something similar?

Thanks,
Chris.

I've ordered a seat with a gel pad as the seat foam is a bit thin after a few miles

seat is good option. I just picked up my Forza yesterday. Front mudflap, grips, and tall windshield added.
But I can't find a decent option for a good luggage rack. I have an older monolock givi topcase I'd like to mount, taken from my other ride.
I have written giviusa, but they haven't answered. Anyone have a recommendation. Links or pics would be appreciated too.

Indicator Audible Warning

Post by Chris S »

Here's a link to a solution that I actually did on a Vespa GT200 many years ago. Different machine but same principles. As I recall it really got attention at stop light as it sounded like a truck backing up, beep, beep, beep......Maybe a tad loud, but it works. Thanks go to the Modern Vespa forum, an excellent source of info.

I just installed a similar thing I got from eBay. Beeping is loud even when I wrapped it up in tape and i can still hear it though the wind/road noise. Best mod ever. No more leaving the indicators on now.

Re: Givi Universal Adapater Plate

Post by Chris S »

Hey willajabir,

Here's something that might work; http://www.twistedthrottle.com/givi-z11 ... gage-racks

I know the existing top flat plate on our racks is removable (if I recall it screws in from underneath the rack), that is how the Honda brand top box fits on. This one could maybe be adapted or have your own plate made and use the connector plate from your older ride?

The mud flap sounds like a good idea. That radiator looks a little exposed up in the front...rocks and such. Where did you get yours?

Givi Universal Adapter Plate

Post by Chris S »

Sorry willajabir, a bit of misinformation; the upper cover of the rear rack is held in place by two push tab fasteners (not from underneath) - you can see them if you open the seat. Also there are slotted tabs holding it in place. Looks like adapter plates are available http://www.bikerzbits.com/honda/honda-forza-300-nss/ Not sure of that particular vendor in the link though.

thanks Chris.
I saw that rack on Ebay also. Looks like it is made and shipped from Thailand. I may go with that. I was hoping for a chrome rack.

As far as the mud flap, I bought some plastic cutting board at Target, industrial velcro from Lowes, took off the fender and cut a rough rectangular piece that extended 3" below the fender.
I then cut the 2 upper corners so it would bend to shape of the fender and curved the bottom. I can't take credit for the idea though. I got it off the Burgman forum:

I am making some leg shields also. The first set worked out ok, looked ok, then I went for a test ride and thought they were great. Then I realized they were too close to the parking brake and I couldn't use the brake. So back to the drawing board to make them bulge a bit more to make room for the brake handle. I considered altering the brake handle, but IF (big if) I make plans or make some for someone else, I could hear the voices in my head complaining about that.
The top portion of the Forza cut out is not straight between the body and cowling. So I used the vent under the top edge to put a tab in to hold the top and made a tab on the bottom to attach by the floorboard screws.
Maybe someone will manufacture something before I'm finished.

Puig windshield. It will arrive on 6 Feb.
After that, something to make it faster such as the Yuminashi gear set or variator set.
