Decisions, decisions...(new guy)

Post by RRocket »

First post!! :D

With the 2016s getting set to arrive sometime soon, the dealers (and Honda) are starting to discount the 2015s here. I tested a silver one and I'm mighty tempted. I've never owned a scooter before...some sportbikes and more hard core supermotos. But something about the PCX is very appealing to me...apart from the super fit, finish and engineering of this machine.

Decisions, decisions...

What's affordable, intimidates no one, runs like a radio, carries your junk, moves you from point A to point B and doesn't ask for much in return. What has parts that are plentiful and cheap, is user friendly, fast enough PLUS chicks love them and fits in a tiny space?

It's not a big motorcycle just goofy little motorbike... first gear

Just got mine last week. It's my third scooter, and I'll tell ya, I couldn't be happier with it.

My only concern is...will I get bored with it. I don't think so...but having never owned something so small, the thought has crossed my mind.

But as others have mentioned, I do find it fun and sooo easy to ride. So easy in fact, I seemed to enjoy the scenery a bit more than I had in years.

Someone mentioned the '16 model the other day - wonder what has changed compared to the '15? (the site listed the other day was in Taiwanese or such so I could not make it out).

Nothing.
Scooters are not changed just because the year changes.
The PCX is six years old now, there have been two changes in that time.

ESP was the first of the two changes.
Launch model
ESP model
Facelift model
Three models, two changes. ;)

I think that largely depends on how many backroads you have, whether or not you need to go on the highway, and whether or not you enjoy shifting gears.

Fun little thing, but lacking in power when compared to a CBR250R. Though on the other hand, you get a 200 mile range on the 2015 and beyond models, with 100 mpg fuel economy. So you can pretty much ride anywhere you want for the price of a frappacino.

Wouldn't the 150 vs the 125 Version make it three? I'm sure that that is a change but I'm not always right.

Depends how you choose to look at it. When the ESP model was introduced it came in two sizes, so that could still be viewed as one change.

Was there not a slight instrument cluster change as well at some point or did I just imagine it?

Hate to get serious but wasn't that part of the facelift? Or was it earlier

Dash change was for the facelift, the launch and ESP models had exactly the same dash.

2999 CDN is about 2300 USD, currently. Great deal you got! Not so good for those thinking they can get $2500 for their used PCX that's older or has accident damage. But the market is the market. Good going!
2013 PCX 150 [now an ex-bike, soon to be consigned to the bottom line of the sig]
2013 Silver Wing ABS (Black)
1971 BMW R75/5 (White)
Too many ex-bikes to list, and, besides, who really cares what we used to own?
