haggling suggestions for pcx 150

Post by Newsasquatch »

Hi, I recently went to a dealer and they told me that the 2017 Honda PCX would cost me $4,900 out the door. I thought that seemed pretty steep, especially considering that I was going to pay cash. I think I came in all wrong. I was with my wife and she seemed too enthusiastic about getting one and even told the salesman that our car recently broke down, so he kept bringing that up in his pitch. I live in Los Angeles if that makes a difference, but I just don't know what a good price is for this scoot. I absolutely want one though but I was just wondering if I could get some guidance about how to get the lowest price.
I was thinking about using a credit union personal loan for it so I wouldn't have to get full coverage and so that I'd get a better price. I was thinking about getting an alarm put on though somehow instead of the full coverage. Would a dealer install that? How should I go about that? Thanks in advance, I'm it chi g to buy one asap but I'd still like to be cautious.

Have you looked at the sugg retail price on the Honda.com site?....ask him how he can ask for more than that. And find another dealer......

It was about $900 for dealer charges. What prices are fair? I was thinking of going in and saying, this (so and so place) offered me this much.

I've heard of people on here saying that Honda has had great deals like 2.99% interest etc, we're they talking about buying it online? Or through a Honda dealer? What is the cheapest way about getting one?

Maybe they just put that price as a haggling starting point, what would a fair price be?

Somewhere a couple hundred under MSRP with a decent set up fee of 75-125 bucks… That's my guess....

when you mention tags-is that plates or insurance?
Here in Canada pdi and documentation runs about $700 Canadian pesos ie $540 US
we are on are own for plates insurance and registration
Got my 2013 in 2014 -a deal-any 2016's kicking around down there- just a thought
buying the previous year model was discounted close to the add ons you mention

I'm not sure, I think he meant plates, but yeah 540 might be a better deal, I was thinking about the 2016, but I wonder what has changed between the 2016 and 2017, and maybe the 2017 is better.

$3499 is MSRP...

https://powersports.honda.com/2017/pcx/build.aspx

You need to let your fingers do the talking (to borrow an old phrase)

I'm sure there are lots of state fees for license & etc. in Cali but come on.....

I paid $1000 for my '13, but it needed some work
Too many scoots..... 12 or so I think .

When I bought mine a childhood buddy told me of the deal-last years model
and he did say Honda Dealers don't haggle
corporate culture I guess I think maybe your costs are inflated with what you receive in your state
maybe $3499 MSRP and California hoses you for the rest

Have any of you put alarms on yours? Are they easy to install? Is it worth it instead of full coverage insurance?

Up here we have a coverage known as specified perils
theft and fire-liability- no collision -you crash you fix
quite a bit cheaper and you take responsibility for your own actions
if you are paying cash this might be an option

I clicked on the link and saw that it would be 200 off, but the 2016 was priced at 3,499 which is the same as the 2017. Thanks for the help though, I appreciate it. Have you guys all built your own? What were the prices that you spent?
