He's on a bicycle now. His budget was tight, so I'm not entirely sure if he'll even get another set.

Anyone knows the causes of the damage? What was his maintenance routine? How many miles on that engine? What oil and how often he changed it?
Maybe aftermarket variations mods stressed out the rod/piston beyond designed loads causing catastrophic damage like this. Info pleas.

I don't think the damage was from anything aftermarket, it was from extreme usage. He followed the maintenance schedule, but there is more than one video of him doing a creek crossing with the engine submerged.

A rod in the engine was thrown, it went through the crankcase.

He tried aftermarket variators, didn't like any, and put 99% of the miles on a stock variator. Here's his bike: http://www.andrewcharnley.com/?content& ... ead&id=288

You can get a stock PCX150 for about 72,000 to 76,000 Baht here, including some add-ons like helmets, jackets, and other stuff. Getting the registration can take up to three months. Right now, license plates are a rare good here and you have to wait a long time. When I bought mine last year, I had to wait about 14 weeks for the registration. The formalities at the Immigration can be mastered easily, but it really takes time. Maybe try to get a re-possessed one from a finance company
