No but my son and his wife went crazy for their 6 year old and 9 year old. They received so much stuff under the tree that they forgot what they got, moving from one present to the next, ripping paper off in a frenzy, crying because they didn't get what the other got, getting in fights because the 6 year old wanted to play with the presents the 9 year old got.
In fact, the 9 year old got a new laptop for Christmas, and the 6 year old tried to grab it...I was appalled! Who buys their 9 year old a $600 - $700 laptop?? Who allows their 6 year old throw angry fits because they want it?? Who spends THAT much money on Christmas!!

Maybe it is because I was raised differently, but when I was a kid I was happy to get A present, and I knew that it was wrong to cross the room to try to grab someone else's toys or gifts. I also knew that it was wrong to try to destroy someone else's things.

When asked how they can let their kids act like this, my son's answer to all of this is always the same, "We don't parent that way."

Well what way DO you parent!!

Kids are on their way to a life of rude awakenings if the parents continue with their
current parental skills.

It is really all about where they live, not what we tried to teach them. They live in an area of affluence.

I worked hard to provide for my family and to try to teach them values. I have to believe that it was my influence that prompted him to go to college and make something of his life. When you have 6 kids you can't hold their hands for long.

When he joined the Marines he changed. When he came home he was driven. He is a natural born leader, but now I can't tell him anything or suggest a better way. He knows it all. So, I am just waiting for his house of cards to collapse.

Meanwhile, Christmas has come and gone and I missed Santa's sleigh pulled by 8 tiny 50cc scooters and a red PCX in the lead. Oh, such a sight!

"They live in an area of affluence."??

Hey Mel, sometimes it's a good idea to show up late-after the gifting,
and leave early-before cocktails. Simple treats for you, wife and pets and a quiet evening.

Happy Holidays to everyone.

Doesn't matter what's under the tree, what counts is who's around it.
