Honda OEM Rear Trunk Base, 2013 one-piece metal version

Post by former50cc »

I installed according to the helpful directions provided by PCX Commuter in http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=947.
I used a 13/16 inch drill bit for the holes. This is the closest I could get to the 20mm that Honda called for.
It's the Honda Rear Trunk Base 08L70-KZY-910.
It is rock solid sturdy and I think it does not detract from the looks of my PCX at all.
I have not yet purchased a trunk, but this will be my foundation for a sturdy support. For now, I can easily bungee a good sized duffel bag to the trunk base and passenger seat area.

Alrighty!! I'm liking that rack! Can you share where you bought it and perhaps the cost?....and measurements of it? I may ask for one as a prezzie. Not interested in a topbox (as of yet) just the rack for maybe a tailbag/crate/duffel. This one looks cool on your bike ;) Fine job!

Thanks, I think it looks great, too.
The measured dimensions I drew into the image on PCX Commuter's picture.
It is 25 cm wide (9.84 inches) by 31 cm long (12.2 inches).
I ordered mine when I purchased my scooter a few weeks ago, and supposedly I was given a 10% discount for part orders at scooter purchase time.
My paperwork indicates I paid $33.98 for part # 08L70-KZY-910.
I my have been ripped off. PCX Commuter wrote that he ordered his from powersedge.com.
I looked up the current price at powersedge.com and currently I see a price of $26.96.
Seriously, this has to be the absolute best way to mount luggage to a PCX that I know of.
Here is a picture of the dimensions:
The attachment Rear Trunk Base 08L70-KZY-910_dimensions.jpg is no longer available
I surmise that possibly a Givi universal mounting plate could be attached easily, either with the method that PCX Commuter used, or possibly by drilling 4 holes into the Honda Rear Trunk Base 08L70-KZY-910.
Here is my guess as to where mounting holes might be drilled to attach Givi Monokey or Monolock universal mounting plates, but I don't know for sure because I have not yet purchased a Givi trunk or mounting plate:

Pardon my mistaken art.
This is sheer guesswork.
I was guessing Givi to Honda OEM Rear Trunk Base possible attachment points could be here, if appropriate holes are drilled into the Honda metal OEM Rear Trunk Base:

@former50cc

Honda's own top box mounts your rear rack directly. No drilling holes or adding brackets.

Do you think that the top box intended for the SH300 or the SH150 will mount directly to the Honda PCX Rear Trunk Base 08L70-KZY-910 ?
I wonder if the Honda mount is universal within the SH300 / SH150 and the PCX Rear Trunk Base 08L70-KZY-910.
That would be nice.

I'm almost 100 % positive about that. You see those mounting holes in your rear rack? If they won't accept Honda's OEM top box, what are they for? They seem identical to SH Series rear rack.

Take a look here and compare:

Do these look similar? You may be correct.

Honda OEM part no (top box):

08L55-KTG-110 (red)

08L55-KTG-120 (black)

http://www.polarispartshouse.com/oemcat ... -trunk-red

I have the black one on my SH300 now. Originally I bought it for my Honda PS125.

Thanks, khaosaming.
I had no idea there was the potential for a degree of universal accessory sharing between the SH_ _ _ _ line and the PCX!
Honda should share this information more.

I may have mentioned in a different conversation about motorcycle training that my 16 year old daughter passed the safety course and now has a motorcycle endorsement on her driver license here in Washington State. She is already asking for the keys to the PCX. As part of her contribution to the family scooter she has surprised me with a Honda OEM trunk she ordered and purchased from our local Honda dealer. It is listed as 35 Liter, part number in the U.S. is 08L77-MGS-A50ZA. She said only all black was available.
Here is a picture of it mounted on the OEM rear trunk base:

And here, khaosaming, is the bottom side view of the trunk that my daughter purchased - it indeed looks identical to yours:

My sweetheart of a daughter intended that the trunk she purchased would be used for her personal items, or for family grocery shopping. She may often pop it off and bring her personal cargo to her bedroom inside the trunk. I still think the trunk base looks great without any trunk attached:

Without a trunk it would be next to useless, right? Like tits on a bull or balls on a pope.

It's the potential that counts.
It's there when needed. You never know when a pope needs balls. You never know when tits on a bull could look stylish.

I still like the concept of the additional strapping points for occasional large items or bags that do not fit inside of a trunk. I have the ability to strap a longer duffel bag extending far behind the passenger seat onto the rear trunk base. I like the versatility.
I could strap on anything, within reason:

OK, that airplane is ridiculous, but a duffel bag in this fake picture shows the possibility.
